Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

I have aready registered my GARMIN on another computer. how do I update it on this computer?

The GPS is registered to your email address, not to your computer. Download and install Garmin Express from Garmin and plug your GPS into your computer. The program will identify the GPS and allow you to update it.

Try to shut off the computer complety after taking the GPS out and then wait an hour or so then turn on the computer and try again or if your computer needs updating update it first then try to plug it in.

Is it my responsibilty to update the maps and traffic by calling you, or is this a feature that automatically happens with the garmin 1390lmt i just bought?

The updates are YOUR responsibility. Plug the unit into the computer and navigate to garmin.com, you can download maps and updates from their site.
There is no automatic update unless you navigate your browser to the Garmin site.

How do i update maps for ireland on my garmin nuvi 265

I own a Garmin also, I am aware that Garmin offers updates by buying there current updated CD. You will need to load the CD on to your computer and then plug in your garmin to accept the new updated maps. Go to this link www.Garmin.com it will explain their pricing structure for their updates.

If this helps you out please leave me some feedback.

Need cable to update garmin nuvi only plug besides adpter is looks like sd card opening?

The cable you use to update a garmin satnav is a mini USB cable. This cable has a USB plug on one end and a small dovetail shaped plug on the other end. Most garmin satnav models have a plug in the back of the satnav, the same socket that you use to charge it. Some models have a socket in the bottom of the satnav beside where the power goes into those models. To update the satnav plug the small plug of the mini USB cable into the satnav socket and the other end into the USB socket of your computer.

I don't have the instructions for our garmin nuvi 265 so I have no clue how to update it. Do we simply go to a website and purchase the product and it updates the next time we plug in the unit. I can't see...

I am not familiar with this particular model, but I just updated a Garmin that I have. If it can be updated you should have a place for a cable to plug in and also into your computer, go to their website, follow the instructions. Works very slick. I do know it will be hooked up to your computer for 30-45 minutes or so to update. Hope this helps, good luck

If you are referring to updating the firmware, you should go to Garmin's website, www.garmin.com and download the WebUpdater software first. Once that is installed, plug your unit into your computer and then run the software.

Update for Garmin c340 GPS Receiver

to be able to update the C340 Streetpilot, you need a Secure Digital memory card (SD o SDHC) at least 1gb i will recommend 2gb.
log into www.garmin.com
you will see some tabs on top of the page like COMPANY - PRODUCTS - SOLUTIONS - MAPS -ETC.
Place your mouse on the maps TAB and select update maps.
It will open a new page with another tab that will say CHECK FOR UPDATES.
then you will see two o more options so you will have to choose what kind of device you have (the new cell gps, garmin nuvi, garmin streetpilot, etc)
after that it will ask yo to install a plug-in into your computer (you need to have the gps connected to pc) andit will scan the model and type you own and will then show you what is available for that unit (software like voices, maps, etc)
