Well I have done some hacking in my day.... there are MANY variables you need to consider when asking those questions..... For example. If the computer is a windows 95, 98 ME up to but not including XP you DO NOT need a password to logon, just press ECS key at the boot screen. Also you can load a key logger before windows loads to grab the keys pressed when the user logs onto windows, the only draw back it that a person can see the program running in the processes. If you write code as I do... You could write a fake front end-which is to say, write a little program that "look like" and acts like the windows logon screen, load it into the system at boot up before windows loads, grab the key strokes of the user, store them to a file, unload it from memory, then run windows, to the user this will appear as a glitch. Then when windows loads have an email client email you the files that was just created and then erase itself from the HDD. There a trick to getting around a BOIS boot password also. You must read, read and then alot more to gain the knowledge and Practice on your own computer. Search the net for- Hacking tips and tricks, wireless hacking, packet sniffing tricks, war driving (driving in a car with SSID software running on a laptop looking for open wireless networks). Please comment back, I have more info, but my fingers are tired.@ LOL

Since I had two hackers get into my facebook account & e-mail about a year ago I have not able to login with my e-mail to my facebook account..However facebook friends tell me they are able to send...

It appears that the hacker changed the password. Contact Facebook to have them change the password and send the new password to you. However before doing that create a new email account with a secure service, e.g. gmail, and have Facebook sent the new password to that. If you keep your password list on your computer, be sure that you encrypt it with a program such as Meo. It may be that your computer is not secure and a hacker has or had access to it. Good luck.

Prevent Your PC from Getting Hacked

Here , we will see how to prevent PC's from getting hacked : Most people think that hackers are only a problem for servers. This is not true. If your Windows PC is not properly configured, everything on your computer can easily be stolen or destroyed by hackers. Our network architecture is inherently hacker-resistant. However, because your PCs are directly connected to the Internet, hackers can bypass our servers and attack your PCs directly. Our firewall will help to some extent, but you must follow basic precautions if you want your data to be safe. Viruses: It is impossible for the servers to get computer viruses, because they run Unix, which cannot be infected by viruses. A virus must be executed before it can infect a computer. On Windows, programs like Internet Explorer and Outlook often execute files without your knowledge, which is what causes most virus infections. However, these files (or any Windows program) cannot be executed on the server. Some Windows viruses put copies of themselves on the server's shared disks. To the server, these are just ordinary files. The server is set up to periodically delete them to save space. They are not a problem unless you click on them. Clicking is the root of all evil. Here are some basic precautions to protect against hackers.
  1. Goto windowsupdate.microsoft.com at least once a week and install all critical patches.
  2. Run an antivirus program at least once a week. Update your virus signature files every time you use it.
  3. Use a firewall such as Zone Alarm. (Some firewalls have had major security problems. Be sure you have the latest update)
  4. Check your computer for trojans by clicking on: http://security.symantec.com http://www.trojanscan.com
  5. Don't click on email attachments.
  6. Don't install Napster, Kazaa, ChainCast, or any software from an unknown source. The former will turn your computer into a server and the latter may contain trojans and viruses.
  7. Turn off sharing, especially on your C:\ and D:\ drive. This is very dangerous! If you must share a disk, make sure it requires a password. Otherwise, anyone in the Internet can use your computer to back up their files without your knowledge. Never share any folder without a password.
  8. Put a good password on your PC. If you have a password on your PC that is easy to guess, your computer can be easily taken over by hackers.
A bad password would be things like 'password', '12345', your name, license plate number, or any word that could be found in an English dictionary or a dictionary in your native language.
  9. Report any network slowness or strange computer behavior so it can be checked by me (if it's a network problem) or Brad (if it's a Windows or Mac problem).
  10. Windows PCs with static IP numbers are especially easy targets. You should always set "Obtain an IP address automatically" in Windows unless you are running a server and you are knowledgeable in computer security.

Here are some more tips:
  1. Please give your computer a sensible name. If we can't find your computer when it causes a problem, the only way to fix it is by unplugging it from the network.
  2. Don't store files in the /tmp directory on the servers (engram or protein). They are not safe there! If someone else gets a virus, their computer can put copies of the virus on the shared disk, mixed in with your files. The server cannot be infected by these viruses, but your PC could. Keep your backups in your home directory where they are safe and private.
  3. If you use Windows 2000 or NT, activate auditing of all system events, especially failures. This will you help discover how the hacker obtained access. Without this knowledge, it will be difficult to know what to change when you reinstall your operating system. Be sure to scan through the logs occasionally for unusual activity.
  4. Avoid executable content in web pages and email. Disable ActiveX. You can check your Internet Explorer installation for Active X security problems at this web site: http://www.tiac.net/users/smiths/acctroj/axcheck.htm
  5. Disable automatic execution of Macros in Office programs (Word, Excel, etc).
  6. Use SSH in preference to telnet. You can replace it with the freeware TeraTerm client with the SSH plugin.
  7. Unbind the unneeded network settings in Windows. This is easy to do, and will greatly increase your security. Follow the instructions at http://grc.com/su-rebinding9x.htm
  8. If a hacker gets on your computer, or you discover a trojan on your computer and suspect it is being actively exploited, unplug it from the network immediately and ask for assistance. Don't delete any files. We may need to check them to find out how the attacker got into your system.
  9. If your computer has been compromised by a trojan or an intruder, it cannot be repaired by removing the foreign software. There are dozens of different ways for a hacker to regain access, despite our firewall, that are impossible for any scanning software to find. The only way to repair your computer is to reformat your disk and reinstall the operating system. Until you do this, your computer is a threat to every one else's computer.
If you don't follow these guidelines, we won't nag you to change, but sooner or later your computer will be trashed by a hacker, trojan, or virus. Some people have already discovered this the hard way.

Someone sent spam email purportedly from me to everyone on my contact list. How can I prevent this from happening again?

Perform an immediate virus scan, your computer may be infected. Hackers get in through malicious links you may have clicked, and this is what results from those hacks.

Also perform malware and spyware scans, either of these can cause an issue such as this as well.

Change your password frequently, make it difficult so a hacker cannot gain access to your account.

Be sure to change your password after performing these scans, otherwise anything on your computer that a hacker will have, they will still have if you change your password prior to the scan.

Be aware of hackers

I want to alert you all about hackers ready to hack email ids . Daily many email ids are hacked . Daily . In the same way , someone from New York hacked my Gmail account . Be aware of hackers .
To prevent hacking of your account , use the followig tips :

1. Insert your email id only in trusted website
This is to prevent hackers know your email id . It can be that the website in which you are entering your email id belongs to a hacker . If it is so , then your account password would be easily hacked . It is not that only Gmail account can be hacked . Anyone can very easily hack the password of any account , no matter it is a Gmail account or Yahoo or Hotmail or any other account . So it would be better and safe to enter your email id only on trusted websites .

2. Change your password at regular period of time
Changing the password can sometimes prevent your account from getting hacked . If a person anyhow gets your password and at that same time you can it , then the hacker would be unable to open your account . It can only happen only with some people .

3. Never neglect warnings and alerts
On Gmail , if a person with a different IP address logges in to your acount , then it shows a warning message on the empty space on the top . If any such warning message is shown , then instead of neglecting it , prform the following steps :
1. Click on the "Show info" link near the message .
2. Note down the IP address of the hacker and change the password or delete the account immediately . I reccommend you to delete the account .

4. Delete unneeded email account
If you have email accounts more than needed then delete those accounts . To see those steps , read my next tip on FixYa.com

If your account has been logged in by this IP address , then mail me to get information about it :

You can also get information about any IP address on Arin WHOIS Database Search website :

I am trying to secure my D-link router, I do not know how to lock it so that I do not get unauthorised access.

As you have not mentioned the make/ model of your router, I would describe the router security settings in general.
First you have to access the router through web browser (Internet Explorer) by typing the IP address of your router in the address bar, which is 192.168.0.1 OR 192.168.1.1 (Default router settings are written under the router)
(unless you've configured otherwise, the default username is admin and the password "leave it blank" OR Type "admin") and lookup for the options to do the following: -

1.On the left-hand side, under Setup, click "Wireless Setup" 2.Under "Wireless Security Mode", select your desired encryption method (preferably WPA2-PSK)
3.Choose/change the Network Key - it can be anything, as long as it's 8-63 characters in length
4. Click Save Settings.
Now your router and your connection would become secure and the user has to provide the network key to access the internet.

Also, for additional security, you may try the followng steps: -
1. Change the SSID (Name) of the router
2. Change the default administrative user name and password
(The above step would prevent unauthorized access to your router)

In the screen shot below I have highlighted the above mentioned options for DLink Dir300 Router, which would help you.
creativetech_20.jpg
Now your router and your connection would become secure and the user has to provide the network key to access the internet.

Let me know if any further clarification/ assistance is required.
Hope it helps! Good Luck!

How can I secure my wireless router

Greetings,

The first step in securing your router is by changing the default administrator password.

Second, choose an encryption type other than WEP. WEP can be easily broken by hackers. This means setting up your router and devices with WPA or WPA2 encryption. The nice thing about this is you can use PSK (Pre Shared Key) which means at all devices you connect to your router with, you only need to know your SSID (Network Name) and your Key to connect. A Key then is like your account password and you should include numbers in it as well to help prevent someone from guessing your password.

Another good idea is to disable ICMP (Which PING uses). Hackers use a Ping to see if something "interesting" is at your IP address. If they get a response they will look further to see what you have and if they can access it.

Hi, someone has hacked my account, i tryed to reset pswd but it said ive reached amount of reset, so i cant acces to my account help me, facebook doesnt have any phone number or email contact wich i can...

Hi.

If you changed already the password, then it is unlikely an hacker. When the account is hacked, the hacker discovers your password, and use a regular login that can be performed by a person or by a software.
If the password gets changed, the hacker will loose access, at least for a while.
If you keep getting the problem after changing the password, then it may be a virus.
