Fuji Finepix F31fd - Write error; then power problem

I have had my Fuji camera for a month and a half. Today I was experimenting with the high speed shooting mode and all of a sudden when I took a shot "write error" came up. Then, when I went into playback mode, all of my photos that I had previously taken were gone. I took the xd card out of the camera and put it into my computer which has Adobe Photoshop Elements. All of the pictures came up as being on the card. I then reloaded it into my camera and then pressed the power button, NO POWER. The battery was not dead because there were still two bars on display when I was experimenting with the high speed mode. I continued to press power and the camera would do nothing. So I took out the battery and reinserted it and now everything is fine. Any theories on this glitch? My concern is if I can now trust this camera. I have a Sony compact and have never had any glitch problems whatsoever, so this is new to me.

Vista seems to have reformatted my memory card in my finepix S5000. I get a write error problem as well as am unable to access the pictures in anyway. I know they are still on the camera though. I could use a solution. Thank You.

    Same problem with me too.

Write error appears right after I try to take a picture.

Is there anything wrong with my memory card?

My screen tells me that there is no image, but I had taken pictures before and I hava a feeling they are still in my care.

    Hi,

I have the same problem. I went to download pictures which I could see in my camera and now it says "card not initialized". This is my most recent

x-d picture card (atleast 6 months old). I NEVER had a problem with the previous picture cards and have been using this camera for a few years.

Could the problem be with the newer form of picture cards? Does anyone know if I have actually lost everything on that disk or is it somewhere and I just cant find it?

As it was a write error, it could be that your card is corrupted. What you could do is to backup all of the images from the card to your computer, then re-format the card in the camera, so at least all your images are safe. Then, if the problem occurs again, contact Fuji.

Yes, you'll need to format the xD Picture Card. You may be able to do this inside the camera in the options, if not - you'll need to connect it to your computer to get it to appear as a drive letter in "My Computer". Select the new drive in My Computer, this will be your card, right click it and click Format, then proceed to format it. This should sort your problem out.

Turn camera from "off" to "play" ( photo view..._

Pressing the “MENU/OK” button as you would to erases files. There is an option to format the xD-Picture Card. Formatting erases protected files, but allows you to then take photos.

My s7000 batterries do not last very long i am wondering if something is draining them down

PRESS RELEASE
Release Date: 12 January 2004

Fujifilm today announced that a number of early FinePix S7000 Zoom digital cameras may experience battery power depletion when used with some CompactFlash™ memory cards.

This fault does not occur when the S7000 is used with either an xD-Picture Card™ or a Microdrive™, nor does it occur in any other Fujifilm products that offer a CompactFlash™ storage facility, such as the FinePix S2 Pro, S602, S602 Pro or M603.

Cameras with serial numbers above 34L60001 (inclusive) were produced after 15 December 2003 and therefore will definitely not experience this battery drain problem.

In the short term, the problem can be avoided by unloading then re-loading the batteries just after the camera is switched off. The camera's power supply will then perform normally.

The camera says memory is full but I have only taken about 20 pictures - the letters IN appear in the corner - camera is a finepix F31fd

You are taking pictures to the internal memory and not to the XD Picture Card. The internal memory will only hold about 20 pictures. You can buy an XD Picture card at Walmart or really any store that sells camera accessories. 256MB should be plenty.

You can also lower the resolution of your pictures and then the internal memory may hold maybe 32-40 pictures.
