Error Message f 30

When I try to start a load the washer will lock and then it makes a grinding sound for about 5 minutes and the error message F 30 shows up. I have tried to reset it and I have also unplugged it for a few minutes...neither helped.

I have replaced all three leavers, cam with new replacements part numbers

8540395 ,8540394 and 8540393. the problem still exists. The problem is with the cam and leavers on top of the dispenser which rotate the diverter inside the dispenser. The leaver on top of the diverter is pushed to far and bends upward as the cam motor rotates. Sometimes jams which causes the motor gears to jump teeth which is the clicking sound that we here. The motor mount is fixed and is not adjustable on this model also on kenmore 11047532602 .If it were the motor could be adjusted away from the diverter there by restricting its rotation so the leaver on top of the diverter does not bend or jam .a shorter connecting leaver would also fix this problem. whowever ihave not found one yet.

I just bought my washer on 2/24/08 and tried to use it for the first time. I also heard the grinding noise and then got the F 30 code. Called whirlpool and they claim to not know what F 30 is..... So a repair man called me back and he claims this is an ongoing problem with 07/08 models and it will be another two weeks until he can get the new part and fix it. So, I called whirlpool back to complain and see what they would do to make me happy..... the best they would do was to extend my warranty for one more year. You would think after sending $1000 on a new washer and never even using it once they could do something better!

  • Anonymous Apr 20, 2008

Just had the machine delivered this morning....our water lines were too short so we had to get extensions....so consequently the delivery guys left before we could run a cycle. Once we got it hooked up........it would go through a series of clicking and grinding sounds for about 5 minutes and then "F30" would pop up. I could not get the machine to work in any cycle at all. Got on this site and read the above messages. I tried the suggestion of going through the detergent area to the moving arm thing....and it worked. The machine is now working.....but do not think we will keep it. Too big of an issue to have on a $1000 machine to have it not work properly from the get go! Thanks for the help.

I have a Kenmore with the same problem F30 code,(plastic Junk arm )

    gets in a bind .

  • Anonymous Sep 28, 2008

yes, same problem. Mine was just clicking, not grinding. I could see the the diverter on the roof of the dispenser housing turning a quarter turn counterclockwise, then a click and turning back to clockwise over and over again. Once I pushed up on it (looks kind of like a knob on the front of a grill), I heard grinding. It took several attempts over several minutes before it released and opened.

  • mweetop Feb 13, 2009

just FYI if you are trying to fix this yourseld and you reach back and mess with the little knob don't pull it out or be too rough!! I accidentally pulled it out and can not get it back up in there....called whirlpool and they are sending a repairman on Tues (4 days from now). Has this happened to anyone else? Problem is my washer and dryer are stacked and I am not sure they will be able to get the top off the washer to replace the parts needed.

washer is 3 weeks old...this is ridiculous

Cheap plastic JUNK on a $1000 machine, what a joke, WHIRLPOOL should be ashamed.... Didn't have the machine 3 months when it first happened, and it has happened again, not even sure if it still under warranty, but with so many customers having an issue, maybe a class action civil suit is in order?

We had the same problem. We took the advice of Bugthis (posted Oct. 4/07) and removed the detergent drawer and reached to the very top of back of drawer, where there is a water diverter that was stuck between an open and closed position. We just turned it back to the closed position and replaced the drawer. Then we just started the machine back up again and it worked!!!!!! Thank you Bugthis!!!!
P.S. we also called service and all they wanted to do is send a service person out and told us that something was wrong with the motor. What a joke? I'm sure they've received many calls about this problem. Thanks again.

We got ours about four months ago and this is the first time it has happened to us. It is really a simple "fix", but one that should not have to be done in the first place. It seems as though the encoder looses its place, or deposits from the different liquids build up and the arm seizes up. I am an electrician and I have had experience with encoders going bad. Good luck with yours!

Same thing here, and "The way I fix it is to remove the detergent/softener dispenser, reach back to the far back and top of the water area, and apply pressure to the diverter (which is attached to that arm and servo) until it is free, stops making the grinding noise and moves on its own again." seems to be working. We purchased at Lowes in Sept. Seems to be trend...

I had the same thing happen. A small plastic arm (couldn't cost more than 50 cents) over detergent dispencer is too long causing it to cam over to the left too far. Repair man has been here twice (only purchased machine on 8/27/07, used 10 times). Cannot get the right part from Whirpool. Right now I am using a piece of GUM to stop arm from going too far to left so I can at least wash a load of clothes. I talked to Lowe's this morning and they agreed to take the machine back. This is insane for a machine over $1,000! I am going to buy something else. Good Luck

This worked for me too! The one thing that isn't emphasized is that you need to really push up hard. (I am a middle aged woman with short arms), Then you'll eventually be able to push and turn it. I kept in unplugged for five minutes after that then turned it back on and it's working great! It's really pitiful though that Sears couldn't give me the solution when I called service. They even told me that it would be 10 days to get a repairman here. Moral to the story...don't buy appliances from Sears their service is non-existant

I have now had this problem twice - the most recent time was the first load after the repair man was here - and my unit is only 2 weeks old. For me, it only seems to happen after I use the rinse/spin or drain/spin option, and then go back to normal wash. The way I fix it is to remove the detergent/softener dispenser, reach back to the far back and top of the water area, and apply pressure to the diverter (which is attached to that arm and servo) until it is free, stops making the grinding noise and moves on its own again.

Have same problem the small motor that turns the arm had a lot of play so i used a paper clip in a small slot at the bottom of the servo to wedge the servo up a little . seems to be working ok now.

De error message on wash machine

For LG washers, the DE error indicates a problem with the door lock. If you just started the cycle and the error occurred, then the door couldn't lock properly. (The machine turns off and indicates the error so that the water won't flood your laundry area.) First check if there are any clothes between the door and the frame. If needed unplug the washer for 5 minutes. Then restart the machine try to open the door. If you pressed Pause, wait a minute or two. If the error occurs at the end of the cycle, it may not be unlocking properly.

The latch mechanism may have failed or the PTC sensor in the latch has failed. The entire latch would need to be replaced. Here's one: http://www.appliancepartspros.com/lg-door-lock-switch-6601er1004c-ap4441836.html . If the door locked failed with the door closed or the washer is under warranty, contact LG or a repair professional for service.

I hope this helps.

Error message SUD and F21 even after unclogging the filter

Push the pause/cancel button twice to clear your message. Then run through a rinse/spin cycle. Next try a normal load without any detergent. SUDS is usually from too much detergent. If this fails, checked the hose for kinks. Check connections and if all that fails, you will probably have to replace the pump. Good Luck!

Good Afternoon William - I understand that your door will not lock and it is display an error message. Try resetting the unit by either unplugging it or flipping the household circuit breaker off. Wait approximately 2 minutes and turn on the washer. Select a normal cycle and verify if the washer will start. If the washer will not operate then it possibly have a faulty door lock assembly or a communication problem with the control board. Contact a professional to move forward accurately.

Error message E27 appears and washer won't operate.

E27 means there is a problem with the door lock. Unplug the machine for 5 minutes and try again. If the error code returns you will need to replace the door lock assembly.

Error Message

Your owner's manual may give a troubleshooting guide for the error code your machine might give you. Is it possible you have locked out the control panel? I "think" the calypso has a control lockout, usually a start button or cancel button. If you press it in for 3-5 seconds, it can lock or unlock panel. If all else fails, try unplugging it and see it it will drain out the water.

This error code indicates that the door is not locking.
Is the washer door firmly shut?
The door must be completely closed for the washer to operate. The door may look as if it's closed, but it may not be latched. Open the door and firmly close it.
Were you washing a large load?
Before you close the washer door, check for laundry items sticking out beyond the door opening. Leave enough space in the washer to allow the clothes to freely tumble. Reduce your load size if needed.
fl_doorseal.jpg To remove the error display, press Pause/Cancel twice.
hcz_003_web_env1.gif

If Pause/Cancel does not work:
  1. Unplug the washer or disconnect the power for one minute.
  2. Plug in the washer or reconnect the power.
  3. Re-select the cycle and press Start.
NOTE: If the error remains on the display, and all of the other conditions above have been checked, call for service.
