No water into the dishwasher to run the program

The city had work done outside on the main line, and after they finished I flushed the cold line, and forgot to do the same for the hot one. After I turned on the dish washer, I heard pressure slamming into the line. After that my dish washer turned very silent. With other words, I'm not getting water into the machine.

It runs through the cycle, and when I add water manually by opening the door, and pouring it inside, it works just fine. But it won't fill on it's own.

I disconnected the water line going into the valve, and there is no deposit of any kind on the screen, but when I opened the shut off valve water started coming out of the disconnected line. So I do have water going at least to the valve.

My thoughts are that it killed either the solenoid valve, the solenoid itself, or the electronic. But since it's going through the cycle without any other problems I would think that it's not the latter one.

Help, anyone! Please! And thanks.

Sorry, I speak a little english.

Good luck.

repairs should be performed by a qualified repair person. when replacing a filter make sure the filter properly installed. once secured get 3,1 gallon containers to purge the water line and reservoir. BEWARE! water may continue to run while flushing the water line. this is why you'll need 3 containers. once you are able to finish flushing the line and the water is no longer gray the flushing for the water dispenser is complete. dispose the ice in the container in the freezer. let the ice maker cycle a few hours then dispose the filtered ice. once copleted you're done.

Could be dirt in the water lines after you repaired. You should always run your taps for a while before running machines that use water. I like to run water from my out side taps if I have outside repairs.

Kink in the line or possible obstruction in the discharge, very bad to leave stagment water in your dishwasher you can get contaminents that way, I suggest from experience and to be safe to use extra hot water and bleach a tablespoon or so, and flush thru there, also check the hoses make sure they are not blocked and thewre is an air gap, and the height of the discharge is proper. After flushing get a box of baking soda, and some distilled vinegar and under neath your sink you will see the discharge or p trap, either place that in there thru the sink drain or put in the dishwasher with no dishes of course and allow the vinegar and baking soda enough to just reach the drain turn off unit and let the vinegar bomb do its thing, this also works for your laundry drain too, always good to flush them every now and again, if you start getting water backing up in your tub, you need a pump of your septic tank, or a thaw, or if on city water and sewer, you have blockage, hope this helps, good luck

When I run hot water for the tub, it has a brown tint

10 year old homes today usually do not have galvanized pipe. They have copper or pex plastic pipe. These do not rust.
Is rusty water on both hot and cold line, or just hot line?
Just hot line, then check anode rod and flush tank:
http://waterheatertimer.org/Replace-anode-rod.html
http://waterheatertimer.org/Clean-sediment-out-of-water-heater.html#flush
Are you on water well? Well casing can get rusted. Water can have minerals. Call local water well service and describe problem in detail.
Are you on city water or mudd district water? Is pipe coming into house made of galvanized? Look inside meter box or look at pipe coming into house. Sometimes the city water line at end of run can get filled with sediments that will discolor water. Have water company flush the city water line.

Most sink faucets will have an areator screen ot a spray attachment at the exit of the faucet. These normally screw in and should be easily removed. You may need to use a cloth to protect the finish and use a pair of channel lock pliers if the threads are stubborn.

Remove and clean the areator screen and allow the water to run freely to allow for removal of any sediment or blockage in the line. The flow should give you an indication if there is any blockage remaining in the line.

Replace the aerator. This will have to be repeated for each faucet.

If the main line was flushed in the house; this may have already been done. If not the flushing process may have broke material free which is clogging the aerators.

Hot water very slow running .cold works fine

Is this problem at every fixture or just one location If it is at every fixture then I would shut water supply valve off to water heater and turn control valve to pilot if gas or shut breaker off if electric. Disconnect piping on hot water side of water heater and see if there is a rust or mineral build up at this point. If so clean thourghly and reinstall piping or replace as needed. Remove aerators from each faucet one by one and flush lines. Both hot and cold. Replace aerator and continue untill you have flushed all lines including outside silcocks. If your problem is more isolated please tell me where and what type of fixture you are having problems with and I will try to help you. Thanks

Hi eaglesblue,

I'm Harvey the Master Plumber.

Your problem is: Just purchased a miele g1142sc dishwasher had a mate over who is a plumber and installed it. No water is coming into the dishwasher is there any safety seals on the water hose, put water into dishwasher pump is working fine.

Please take no offense but a plumber is not the same as an experieced appliance installer. Any way, your mate may have done just fine but the water line is clogged or he failed to flush the line before hooking it up and you may now have a clogged solanoid valve. Did you run the d/w a couple of times before he left? Did you confirm it working then and now it's not?

Feel free contact me again!

Thank you,

It sounds like your washer is not getting enough water to start. If your washing machine is filling too slowly or not at all, then you probably have a clogged screen on the back of your washer. To check this:
  1. Turn off the water supplies(both hot and cold).
  2. Remove the hoses at the back of the washer. Check the screens for debris(i.e. rust, dirt, scale, etc.) The screens will be pushed into the back of the washer where the water enters the washer. Debris can come from a variety of places: #1 Deposits coming off the sides of your pipes.(Older homes) #2 Repairs done to your plumbing lines, or the cities lines.
  3. If these screens are clear of debris, I would then check the water flow out of the hoses. Take each hose with the end pointing into a bucket, and turn on the water to allow a full flow. This will also flush each line of debris.
  4. Reinstall the hoses and turn on the water supplies.
There could also be a number of reasons that there would not be full flow out of the supply lines: #1 Debris stopping up the line at the shut-off is one of the main causes.

If you have debris stopping up your screens and shut-offs, it will most likely stop up your aerators on your faucets, and your shower heads too. It is also suggested that you check these.

If you are getting debris in all these items, I would recommend that your lines get flushed. You can do this, but many times it is easier to have a plumber do this. If you do not know what you are doing, it can get very wet, and time consuming.
