WHEN I TURN TV ON THERE IS NO PICTURE. I GET SOUND. THERE ARE THREE LINES THAT GO ACROSS SCREEN. ONE IS RED ONE ,IS BLUE ,AND THE OTHER ONE IS GREEN. BEFORE THIS STARTED HAPPENING THE TV WOULD GO OFF FOR A COUPLE OF MINUTES THEN IT WOULD TURN BACK ON. WHAT IS THE SOLUTION?

Re: NO PICTURE
GO TO THE CONVERGENCE MENU (MENU 2 3 5 9) AND CHECK THE ADJUSTMENT SETTINGS FOR CONVERGENCE. IF ALL ITEMS ARE SET AT "127". THE EEPROM SETTINGS ARE AT DEFAULT. CLEAR THE CONVERGENCE MENU AND ACCESS THE OPTION MENU (MENU 1 3 7 0) USE THE ADJUST BUTTON TO SELECT E2RESET AND PRESS QV. THIS SHOULD INSURE THE EEPROM IS CLEAR. AT THIS TIME ALL ADJUSTMENTS, CONVERGENCE GEOMETRY AND CONVERGENCE SHOULD BE DONE. IF MISSING, WEAK OR DISTORTED, CHECK PULSE AT SOURCE PIN 7 OF IC401 (PUMP UP OUTPUT) ON THE SIGNAL PCB, IF THE PULSE IS NOT CORRECT AT PIN 7 CHECK C402 100 UFD 50V AND IC401 PART # 270P064020. 3. CHECK FOR -5 VDC TO THE CONVERGENCE PCB AT "GM" CONNECTOR PIN 10, IF LOW, MISSING OR NOISY, CHECK C936 (1000 UFD 16 V) AND C935 (100 UFD 16 V) IN THE -8 VOLT SUPPLY CIRCUIT ON THE MAIN PCB. 4. CHECK C924 (1000 UFD 36V 105 C) AND C925 (100 UFD 50 V) IN THE -24 VOLT SUPPLY CIRCUIT ON THE MAIN PCB.

These procedures are from the owners manual, go into menu and then picture quality and then:
The Convergence feature lets you adjust the TV’s three tubes. When the TV tubes’
images are precisely aligned, they create the color images you see on the screen.
Over time, the picture can drift out of alignment (this is normal). If your picture
seems fuzzy or has a yellow tint, using Convergence could correct this
misalignment. Only one convergence is needed for all inputs, regardless of the
Note: Make sure the TV has been on for at least 30 minutes (TV needs to
warm up for best results) before starting Auto Converge or Red/Blue
When you select the Convergence feature, a submenu appears with three options:
Auto Converge Automatically aligns the projection lenses to self-correct
color images. You’ll see flashing squares of color dance across the screen
(this is normal).
Note: After performing auto convergence, use the Blue Centering and
Red Centering menus to fine tune convergence in the center of the
screen, if necessary.
Blue Centering Aligns the blue and green images to fine-tune the picture.
Red Centering Aligns the red and green images to fine-tune the picture.
Note: The ability to change channels is disabled when adjusting the
convergence options. The TV must be tuned to a usable signal to
converge the picture.
you have a shorted green CRT that is affecting the other crts the short is internat to the crt that leaves what is called retrace lines. if the set is more than three years old then replace all three guns.
Your posted/describe symptom seems to be that the green color drive is defective. The "lines going across" are flyback retrace lines brought about by the safe problem.
The corrective procedure would be to replace. In most TV units, color drive are three (3) identical transistors: for the blue, green and red. They are normally located at a small squarish PCB attached to pins of the CRT right at the rear end of the neck. More often, they are heatsinked. Repair should be a straightforward desoldering the defective component and replacing with a new one.
In some versions, color drive is a single IC power pack.
Still, it is also possible that the problem may be due to cold solder on any or all of the pins of the above describe transistor (or IC).
Hope this be of help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.
It sounds like you are going to need to have the convergence IC's replaced. Not really a hard job, but the job requires the proper tools, soldering skills, and a service manual to get the proper part numbers and to perform convergence alighnment in the service menu after the IC's are replaced. Good Luck
Those lines sound like "retrace lines" and several things can cause them. The most common are shorts inside the picture tube and shorted semiconductors in the video driver circuits. They can also be seen if the blue screen voltage is too high or if someone has tampered with the screen voltage control.
sound like the screen control on the flyback is set just a little too high. the flyback has the red wire attached to the tube. the flyback has 2 small adjustable controls. if you look close enough 1 is marked focus & on is screen. turn the screen slightly to the left & look at your picture. the screen is like a master brightness & if it's up too high you will see what is called retrace lines.
Flyback lines? Is the picture all white with no brightness control with faint horizontal faint lines? If this is what you are saying, the screen voltage could be bad, and if thats the case, the picture tube or the flyback itself could be bad. You could also have a bad connection on the crt socket
