Question about SanDisk Sansa Clip MP3 Player

1 Answer

Sansa Clip won't charge

I know that the Sansa Clip has to be turned on & playing whenever charging is taking place, but when I plug in the charging cable, it turns off the player & won't come back on until I unplug it. Even after attempting to charge it for several hours, the battery meter is still registering low. Can anyone help?

Here's the thing, technically it doesn't need to be turned on because it's supposed to turn on by itself.

I've had a problem sort of like that. It might be the plug, but it also might be the computer. I'd either suggest try plugging it into another computer or getting a new plug.

Actually, it cannot be turned on and playing while you're charging it. But anyhow, let's get to the annoying battery charging problem with Sansa Cip...

I had the same problem with my 8G Clip. Here's what I've found...

I have a Vista laptop and a Dell XP Pro desktop. Never had any problems with my Sansa 8G Clip until I plugged it into the Dell/XP's USB port. After hours of charging (I thought), I unplugged it, it updated the DB and said "Low Battery" and turned off in a few seconds.

Then I updated the firmware and presto - my Clip was fully charged and working just fine without any data loss. I did this on my Vista laptop.

Thinking it was just a firmware issue, I plugged it back in the Dell/XP machine to recharge it - and guess what?! The same problem re-appeared.

I could no longer update the firmware since it is using the most current version, so I plugged it into the USB port on my Vista laptop and it appears to have fixed the problem.

Sansa clip sandisk 2gb won't charge. Thought it was low and after plugging it in to computer overnight it wasn't fully charged but worked the next morning but suddenly died. Now it won't charge. Sansa...

I had the same problem this morning, albeit with my 8G Clip. Nothing worked -- the thing seemed dead as roadkill -- until I found a link about "forcing MSC mode." Basically, it told me to hold down the center button while plugging my Clip into my computer using my USB cable. Suddenly, boom! It's awake and alive and happy again. I'm unsure how that works, but that did it for me.

The battery wire inside may have broken off...its a common problem in sansa clip...if you are comfortable opening it up,you need to solder the wire into place correctly...

Sansa clip won't charge fully

If you have a phone charger with the same connector, plug in you Clip and leave it overnight. This will fully charge the battery. There is not enough power from the USB port.

Wondering how long it takes to charge the Sansa Clip MP3?

I have had the same problem. It seems the radio never turns off and keeps drawing power. Solution: before charging, go to a song, start it playing, then pause it, then turn off the sanza clip. Plug it in and it should charge up fine.

My sanDisk Sansa Clip MP3 Player will not charge anymore. At least not on the computer I'm on. I have had it hooked up to charge for 2 days now and nothing. Why is this and how can I charge it?

This is direct from the sansa FAQs at http://www.sansa.com/support/sansa_clip/faqs 02. Why won’t my Sansa Clip charge when I connect it to my computer? USB Cable
Make sure that the USB cable is properly plugged in and use the original cable.

Computer in Hibernation mode
Make sure that the computer isn’t entering hibernate or sleep mode while the device is connected. The computer must be on in order to charge your player.

USB Port 2.0
Make sure your player is connected USB 2.0 port (1.1 occasionally causes charging problems).

USB Port location
Try plugging in different USB port (i.e. USB port in the back of the computer); sometimes the front USB ports have problem charging up the device.

Battery
Make sure the battery is fully charged. It takes approximately 3 hours to fully charge the battery.

Latest firmware
Make sure to update firmware by downloading and installing the Sansa Firmware Updater.

I hope this helps, and don't forget to rate the answer.

Sansa clip froze up in play mode

First, reset.
If that fails, then try to download the Sansa Connect Recovery Tool from:
http://www.sandisk.com/Retail/Default.aspx?CatID=1532
If that still fails, upgrade the firmware from the Sansa website
If that fails, uninstall the software from the installation CD and reinstall it from the Sansa website.

Charging the Sansa Clip player

If you leave your Sansa plugged into your charging source (wall charger, computer, car etc.), your player might still remain fully charged and just on. If you can, you may want to just leave it plugged into your charging source until you want to use it, so it stays fully charged. When its done, it will say fully charge...it should take a couple hours to charge the device....

Also, does your player have an auto power off or idle sleep setting? You can use this setting to set the amount of time you want your Sansa to automatically turn off after you don't use or listen to music on it.
