Re: charge

I own the RCA Lyra RD2726A (4Gig) and I have had similar problems with the battery, only it doesn't last longer than 1/2 hour sometimes. The trouble with mine seems to be that the backlight is what is draining the battery - when I can steer clear of causing the backlight to come on, I get more play time out of it.

I also just noticed today, after having the player connected for some time to my computer, that it seems to be holding the charge better than when I charge it with the AC adaptor. I wonder then if it isn't my AC adaptor that is the culprit. I think that for now I am going to continue to charge it via USB cable, and see how that goes.
I just thought I'd share those thoughts. I hope they are maybe just a little bit helpful!

Re: charge

How long have you had it? Read below, pasted from, basically if it's 1.5yrs old more the battry needs replacing. Some capacity deterioration is noticeable after one year, whether the battery is in use or not. The battery frequently fails after two or three years. It should be noted that other chemistries also have age-related degenerative effects. This is especially true for nickel-metal-hydride if exposed to high ambient temperatures. At the same time, lithium-ion packs are known to have served for five years in some applications. Manufacturers are constantly improving lithium-ion. New and enhanced chemical combinations are introduced every six months or so. With such rapid progress, it is difficult to assess how well the revised battery will age. It's an internal battery and the player needs to be taken apart to replace. Hope this helps L8R

How long does the battery last?

If it is new and good, then between 4-6 hours. If it is used or has been charged without being fully drained, then 2-4 hours.

The 5th Generation iPod (iPod video) were made and sold in 2005. Batteries inside iPods tend to last 2 to 3 years (4 if you hardly use them). It could be time to replace the battery inside your iPod.

Battery does notfully charge

I have a similar problem but when I use mine, it lasts 3hours per bar on the meter. It only does up to 98% and it overheats. If you take it off and let it cool and monitor it as it charges, you can get a full battery. Take it off charge around 70% and turn it off. Wait 2 hours and put it back on charge until it reaches 100 then take it off and it is charged. To see the battery charge

My Computer > Sansa Clip ?gb (Right-Click) > Properties
Look down at a battery shape with a green bar and a percentage beside it.

Unit will not turn on

Your battery is recharged when connected to your computer. Turn the player off and connect it to your computer via the USB cord. The computer must be turned on. Initial charge should be for 10 hours with subsequent charges 3 to 4 hours for a full charge. A quick charge of 1-1/2 hours will give you a 70 percent charge. A fully charged battery will last up to 15 hours under normal use.

Samsung YP K3 only lasts for 2 hours

1. totally discharge the battery so it wont come on.

2. Charge the battery fully

3. Reset the player

Now check how long the battery lasts. If it is still 2 hours there is a problem with the battey and you will need to return the player.

Battery life cut down to 7 hours

The thing is, you recharge it too much. Because when you recharge it even though it still has battery power left, it tries to recharge it as much as if the battery was depleted. So, your battery overheats, therefore allowing you 7 hours instead of 20. And yes, it is possible to switch the battery.
