Question about Audiovox PPC 6700

Speaker microphone malfunction

I can no longer use my phone without a headpiece. Apparently the speaker and the microphone are malfunctioning. However, the notification sounds are still active. I can hear the phone ring, but I am unable to answer it without the headpiece. Also the phone will not let me enter voice activated numbers without the headpiece one. Any ideas???

I did a hard reset twice and it finally worked. However I find whenever I use the phone as a MP3 player at work hooked to speakers, the problem recurs.

Same problem with my Sprint PPC 6700. Only change in usage was that I recently started using an extended battery. Seems like a mechanical problem with the headphone jack -- per the suggestions at http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/ppc-6700-..., I jiggled the headphone plug in the jack and eventually got the speakers to turn on.

I actually found a dumb solution for my sound problem. When I use the phone for a MP3 player at work hooked to a stereo system, I just unplug the cord from the stereo while it is still playing so I can hear the sound coming from the PPC before I turn it off, the phone works just fine. I haven't had the problem now for over 6 months. I don't understand why, but it works for me.

I had same problem with my PPC so I tried hard reset didn't help, PCS support did hard reset and nothing, same problem so what I did is insert that headset plug in and out couple of times that fix the problem but any time I use my wired headset problem comes back.
I realized that the problem was in the 2.5 jack it self, I took it to Sprint store, left it for a hour when I am back the tech guy said that they replace my phone with new one, oh well this is third phone in less then 14 mos.
But anyway now it works just fine so I try to use Bluetooth headpiece much is possible. Waiting for my 2 year contract to end so I can get PPC-6800 or something better, had too many problems with this phone. I like the phone but it was freezing up on me every day and tech support didn't do s!#@!#t for me to fix it until this problem comes up, I'm kind of glad it did :-) in the way.

When pressing the on/off button it is staying red and displayed on screen is F61 and thats all it will do

"F61" protect in other brand is an error code for short/overload on the following.
1. Inputs - speakers, microphone, Audio inputs from cable box, TV, etc.
2. Faulty internal Fan - Once the internal fan gone to malfunction, the unit will automatically turned to this error code to avoid further damaged most especially to the expensive parts like the sound output IC.
3. Power supply - if one of the power supply is not normal, same symptoms will be encountered.
4. Sound output IC - once this IC gone to malfunction, it will trigger the symptoms to avoid further damaged to power supply and speakers.

DIY steps to determine if the fault came from the board inside the unit is by disconnecting all of the inputs, speaker, microphone from the unit and turned it on without them. If the symptoms still persist, #2 - #4 parts needs to check to isolate the problem.

Hi,
The microphone is rarely malfunction on this phone if there is misuse of phone. You may have software problem and need to update / upgrade.
Just go to menu>> settings>> phone >> phone update , then go to nokia 5310 software update.
And check again your microphone.
Check also the sound volume in your phone. Don't set it to minimum.

I think it does really happen that way on some things like that , maybe its the controling IC or a busted resistor inside your amp. and check your speakers too. maybe they are shorting inside that makes your amp malfunction. try too open it or its up to you.
