Question about Hitachi 50V500 50 in. HD-Ready LCD Television

1 Answer

My color and clarity of picture is poor

The picture clarity is a bit hazy and the colors are wrong now (what used to be blue is now a differnt color) the screen is still bright so I'm guessing it's not a bulb issue

What is the picture settings for wd-73834 mitsubishi hdtv

Most of this is personal preference---if contrast (picture) is set too high the picture will have some smearing on dark or even very bright scenes--try to have that set at about 70% and brightness just a bit higher---a proper setting of the two will give a better picture with more clarity. Color and tint to preference and sharp to not full smooth (mid-range)

Other than these signal provided accounts for clarity--pixels stopping etc is not the set but the signal provided not fast enough to keep up----cable and sat often jams a lot of info into a small space and that sort of issue results.

If you have a HD quality Blue Ray compare it to your signal source and usually it will look much better.

I have taken the time to cover as many bases here as possible.

Hope it helps in some small way.

My mitsubishi vs-60705 has very poor picture clarity. It can be described as hazy and the color is weak.

It may be a convergence problem...but not sure based on your description.

Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos of a convergence problem

  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
Here are some photos of convergence problems.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

You will need to replace the convergence chips and possibly some convergence resistors and pico fuses. Its a fairly easy DIY job or you can call in a pro. If you want to do the repair yourself check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. Their kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, thermal paste, email/phone support, etc.

No. your problem is related to the coolant in the green CRT has congealed with bacteria and needs to be changed. Thats what causes the halos and general poor picture and color quality. The blue should be changed also. The red for some reason doesnt seem to be affected by the bacteria problem. This is a common problem that happens with all projection TVs phillips and magnavox TVs

No color

The most common reason for this is when you use component cables (YpYbYr) and the red or blue cable is bad it will cause a black and white picture. Also doesn't hurt to check the color settings in the menu too.
