Re: restore and install

Assuming that the machine is running Windows 2000 or XP and has a floppy drive, it is possible to obtaina set of floppy discs which, when booted, will enable you to reset the admin password. There are two flavours: an Open Source (free) version which works perfectly but is not so user friendly as the commercial solution which is easier but costs. There are quite a few solutions out there. A google of "windows XP password reset" will find what you probably need.

Asking for password before system. Boots

Maybe you forgot the pass or some users put pass on your system or account..You can salvage your old user account by logging on as the "Administrator" user. Once you're logged in as the admin, you can reset your old user password. The Administrator user (by default) is similar to a "superuser" and has the highest access level to reset any user password.
If you don't know what your Administrator password is, you can reset that by rebooting into Safe Mode.
The best option here is to reset your account password. You can do this using either 1 of the 2 methods suggested by Microsoft Knowledge Base article #321305. In my opinion, the second method described on this page is most likely the easiest route: Reboot Windows in Safe Mode. Click Start, and then click Run. In the Open box, type the following command, and then click OK: control userpasswords2 Click the user account that you forgot the password for, and then click Reset Password. Type a new password in both the New password and the Confirm new password boxes, and then click OK.
Good luck!
Side note: To access Safe Mode, Click Start -> Shutdown (or Turn Off), and choose 'Restart'. Once the computer restarts, press F8 repeatedly on the keyboard until a Boot Menu appear (this *must* be done before the Windows boot screen appears). Finally, choose to boot Windows in Safe Mode and press Enter on the keyboard.

You can reset a lost or "forgot Windows password" with 4 methods below:
1. Another valid administrator account which can normally log on.
2. A password reset disk or a repair disc, which is created in advance ( before you lost password ).
3. Third-party software to create a bootable password reset CD/DVD or USB, like "Windows Password Breaker".
4. Re-install. Will lose data.
goodluck and hope this helps.pls rate ..thanks

Forgot password

The first thing you can try to do is login via the main Administrator account....usually there is not a password set on this account and it will allow you to remove the password on the account you forgot the password to.....follow these steps

Using The Admin account:
  1. Shut down the computer
  2. Start the computer
  3. As soon as the computer powers on tap the F8 key on the keyboard
  4. You will see a black screen with white lettering and a bunch of options , selct the top option which says "Safe Mode"
  5. Windows will load (and everything will look huge on the screen but that is ok!). When you get to the "Welcome!" screen you should see the administrator on it to log in
Now you should be in Windows , to remove your password on the account you forgot:

  1. Click the "Start" button
  2. Click "Control Panel"
  3. Double Click on the "User Accounts" Icon
  4. Click on the account you want to remove the password from
  5. Click the link that says "Remove Password"
  6. Hit "Save"
  7. Restart the computer
Now you should be able to log directly into your account with no password. Once in the accoun tyou can follow the steps above to set a new password , instead of removing password @ step 5, click "Set New Password"

here is one way for Windows XP

first, you have to log on as the administrator
