Question about Whirlpool Ovens

Element wires fell behind oven

I have a Whirlpool built-in double electric oven. The house was built around 1984; I believe this is the original oven. I can't find the model number anywhere. My husband was trying to repair the element in the top oven. The wires connecting the element to the oven fell back into the hole and behind the oven. How do we get them out? We're trying to sell our house and are desparate to get this fixed as soon as possible. Thanks for your help!

I just had the same problem with our Electrolux wall oven. I don't expect you are still having problems 3 years later, but thought I would post for the benefit of anyone else with this issue.

Firstly, turn your power off. I then had to unscrew two screws on each side of the oven door which allowed the oven shell to come forward. You should then see the power cord which you can remove from the powerpoint. If your oven is hard-wired in, then I would definitely call an electrician.

Once I removed the oven, I placed it on the floor and unscrewed a few screws that held the top and back casing on. After removing the casing, you can see the wiring and you just need to push the fallen wire back through.

Before you put the casing back on, you could replace your element just in case the wire falls through again.

Oven door will not open

This unit may have a door lock built in to the control unit lockout. To release it you may have to turn off the oven circuit breaker in your house circuit box. If not, it is just jammed and you will need to wobble it free.

Replaced control panel and keypad 1 1/2 years ago seen the error codes now I was self cleaning oven everything went off no error codes or anything house breaker ok PLEASE help.

Self clean is hard on controls. I do not recommend self clean. Kills expensive parts. If the temp goes above 300 in the control panel, a control panel fuse will melt, killing the power to the control.

Built-in Electric Double Oven

The fan is controlled by a temperature sensitive switch. Apparently the switch is not shutting off when it should. It will have to be replaced. If you are not comfortable working around appliances, you will need to call a service technician. There is usually a set of maintenance instructions in the top of the oven. Check it out for any suggestions. Temperature switches can be purchased on line.
