Nikon Coolpix L110. Less than a month old. Keeps saying "batteries exhausted" even with brand new batteries

Are you using good quality batteries? Cheap supermarket batteries (usually zinc carbon) tend to be weaker than quality alkaline batteries. Look for alkaline batteries with the code "mn1500" somewhere on either the battery or the packet. Also, rechargeable batteries can vary between brand in that some hold less charge for less time than others. So look for the code "2000" or "2500" on the pack if you want to use rechargeables. Many cameras use only 2 AA batteries and it takes a lot of power just to start them (charging the flash and extending the lens etc.) and need a good battery for them to work.
If this doesn't solve the problem (I think it should) then you may want to return the camera and have it replaced under warranty.
Hope this helps.

I was wondering why I take a shot and it says empty battery when brand new ones are installed?

dear sir,

this is not a big problem,as for your camera model the battery recommended by olympus is (Battery AA (2) batteries (NiMH recommended)

the problem is,normal aa batteries and aa(nimh)batteries looks same by mere appearance........

kindly ask the shoppe for AA(NiMh) batteries and put in ur cam,it works for sure..........

thank you...take care............................

NIMH Battery goes off after 20 shots for Nikon Coolpix L01

the camera takes just about any AA pair of batteries ... lithium will give you the most pictures .. your NiMH batteries should last longer unless they are old .. you may have one weak battery ... you can try a pair of standard alkalines to see if there is something wrong with the camera .. if those work ok then you need a new set of NiMH ... there is a new type out called "eneloop" .. they are just like normal NiMH except they dont go dead when you store them .. even after a year they are still charged .. with normal NiMH batteries as they age they will self discharge in 2 weeks or so .. so you have to charge them just before you use them ..otherwise they go dead on their own .. if you charge them then not use them for a week then you will not get nearly as many pictures ... the eneloop batteries fix that .. you can also recharge them many more times than standard NiMH batteries .. they cost about the same ..

My nikon L18 used to work with regular Alkaline batteries and could take many pictures, but I left the batteries in for a month or so and now it always says I have exhausted batteries, even with new...

no you didn't. Buy high alkaline batteries like energizer. i have the same camera and it done the same thing. the cheaper brand batteries will not work. you will get a flashing battery sign every time

Coolpix L18 LCD Freezes

If you are using the NiMH batteries they may be getting hot causing condensation. Try regular battries or wait for the camera to stabalise in the new tempature. If the regular battries work then buy the replacement rechargebal battries because the voltage will vary with tempature also causing errors to the sensors.

I have a Nikon coolpix L18 and can only take around 10 pics wiht it, with alkaline aa batteries, before I get the message "batteries exhausted". What can I do? Is the camer defective?

Well, alkaline batteries don't last long in a power-draining camera like the Coolpix. Try some rechargeables and keep spares fully charged.

L18 exhaust batteries even when camera is turned off. Have used both alkaline and NiMH. Only way to "save" batteries is to open the battery compartment when not in use. Is there a problem with this camera?

No you should alway store electronics that is not being used for a duration remove batteries
it you put the batteries in the freezer it also extends the life of the battery

Batteries

2 areas to check; 1) are they "good" batteries? High quality, name brand, fresh (as per use before date on package)? 2) do you have the camera set up to use that type of batteries? In the setup menu, there is a power source set-up function. Make sure that matches the battery type you are attempting to use. The best batteries for any AA powered camera are the Energizer Lithium (not rechargeable) cells. A bit expensive, but they pay for themselves through long life, and less headaches.

Batteries wont work on my Nikon L11

Hello

i have used Digipower AA rechargable and Everready AA rechargable batteries without a problem lasting a long time in this model.

you may have a problem with the battery charger itself.

batteries i am using are rated at 2400-2500 ma

in the menu button, select shooting menu - set up - scroll all the way down to battery type, select the battery type you are using and press ok in the center of the button.

you can use the coolpix nimh selection for other rechargable brands.
