Proview PL716s computer monitor (by 7 users)

posted by Trofeo on Sep 17, 2007

I have a Proview PL716s monitor and it now powers up and displays a proper image for about a second and then goes to blank. The power LED remains a solid green. I have confirmed that the computer is putting a steady signal out. Any thoughts?

I just bought a PROVIEW PL716S LCD MONITOR off of ebay ( seller said it worked perfect) And I plugged it all in and Led Green light for power is on.No error messages. But It shows desktop for 3-12 seconds, then flickers ever so slightly and then goes pitch black. I tried this on my laptop and home pc with same results. The ebay seller wont give me an exchange or refund. Also if I unplug the Video cable I will get the " no signal" sign in colour.

please email me if u know what may be wrong. Im so disheartened, Gift for my kid for xmas. clarissahiggins@hotmail.com

I have pluged and unpluged everything. I have it installed on a circut breaker. I have tried F8 and F5, but none of these work. I have tried to replace the plug from the monitor to the computer, as I am getting a "no signal" on my monitor. I have not been able to find a replacement cord to see if that is the problem. I purchased it from Circut City 2 years ago and they cannot provide me with any information where to purchase a cord. So at this point I cannot get anything off my harddrive.

Bad Inverter. Or a surface mount component on the inverter. Either way it needs to be trouble shot down to the component level or replace the inverter board.

I opend up the monitor and found that some of the capacitors on the power circuit are bulging. I'm pretty sure that is the problem. I just ordered substitute capacitors and will replace the broken ones with them when they arrive. specs for equivalent capacitor: 470uF 25V 105C

Screen went blank and pressing power button makes it life - displays proper image - for split second only. At first after pressing power button several times it would start working - that was few weeks ago, now nothing helps. I connected different monitor and image display is perfect. Reading two solutions to exact problem didn’t help since there is too much lingo that I do not understand and do not know what the next step is.
