The siren sound is a alert sound that your processor is overheated. please check the processor heat sync and fan installed properly?

Have an abit bd711. when I start up the computer i sometimes get an alarm tone, and other times I do not. Not sure what it means.

You're Abit BD7II-RAID MB has many bios settings that could bring about the sound you are hearing.
See page 3-23 in you're manual. (Resume by Alarm)
Most of the settings on page 3-23 are used for power savings. Also see page 2-10 section (13). U27: POST Code Display. When you hear the alarm tone check the MB's display U27 for it's code.
I'll post a site where you can download a small program called Speccy that can monitor the temps in you're system; http://www.piriform.com/speccy/download
This can help if there is a heat problem with a device within you're system. At this time I don't feel you have a CPU problem.

Good luck!

Hi! I have a pc with abit is7-e2 motherboard.. And when i start the pc a red led turns on the board... There is no picture on the screen. I already checked the video card but its working

Just how did you check the video card if you get no image on the screen?
Try another monitor with your computer. If you still get no image, then it's your video card or another component.
If your computer will not pass the POST (power on self test) then you will not get any video output.
Culprits can be the hard drive, the CD, the memory, the motherboard, or the CPU. I would disconnect everything but the CPU, memory, and video and try to start it to narrow the problem. But first, try another monitor.
I've even seen a bad power supply that seems to work keep the video from working.

Changed cpu on an abit va-10 mb but the fsb stays at 266

Unless the mobo is compliant with a front side bus speed of 333mhz, the cpu you have will only run at 266mhz max, in other words the cpu will down-clock to the 266mhz bus clock and therfore run more slowly. check with the mbo handbook, or on CMOS tosee if yoy can change the fsb setting. ask for more help if needed. Can you give me the full code of the mobo ?

Clarification Request

Hi jlg371,
Did you know that Asus warrants their boards for three years?
Why buy a new board when you can have yours' replaced by Asus!
While inside your case, look at the parallel port. There is a white sticker there. Write down the information onto a piece of paper. Call Asus tech at: 1-812-282-2787 M-F 8:00AM to 5:00PM EST.
It’s best to call in the morning. Get a case number from Asus. The way this works is you'll strip the board including the CPU. Box it & ship it back to Asus. You pay to ship it to Asus. (Signature Requested)!
Asus pays to ship back to you. Expect 2 weeks, 10 working days (Min) to pass before Asus ships your MB back to you.

Good luck jlg371!
