How to change region codes from only 4 to 2 & 4

To change the Region code on your DVD player, open Control Panel - System - Hardware - Device manager, and click on DVD/CD ROM drives, then right click on the DVD drive and click Properties then click on DVD Region.
You can enter a new region and it also shows you how many changes have been made.
NOTE you can make only 4 changes and the player will lock permanently on the 4th change.
If you want to play DVDs from any region you maybe able to upgrade the firmware to make it region free BUT if you make a mistake or installed the wrong firmware the player will be a piece of junk.
The best solution to make the player region free is to install a piece of software (Passkey for DVD) that allows you to play DVDs from any region and Passkey for Blu-ray that allows you to play Blu-rays from any region. There are several available on the Internet but my favourite is DVD-Region Free From: -

The world has been fenced off into areas by these manufacturers, and you Aus DVD is security locked to Code 4.
The UK has a different Area code, and your Samsung was setup to play only DVD,s sold in Europe.
However a knowledgeable friend with a computer can play another areas disk by changing the area code in the computer.

Though can try this:

1. Power ON
2. Press MENU
3. Enter code 57538
4. The current region code
5. For codefree press 9
6. Click on the Open DVD door button
7. Power OFF and power ON
8. Enjoy!

Is it possible that the region codes of the DVD player and the DVD's are different?

I live in Australia and have two Samsung DVD/VCR player recorders, DVD-VR375 and DVD-VR355. I could only play Region 4 DVDs until I pressed DVD, with no DVD in the units, pressed Menu then 76884, then 9, inserted a Region 1 DVd and it played in both units.

Hi,

You can only change the region code a few times (usually 5), so I wouldn't do it. You should leave the current player at region 1, and buy and install another DVD player and set it to region 4, then you will have 1 for each region you want.

1. Cold start the player, by holding down the PLAY and STOP buttons on the player.

2. You should see a set of language options. Release the PLAY and STOP buttons.

3. Select your language.

4. Press REPEAT (not the repeat A-B button) then the following codes for the required region the player is already set to (region you bought the player in):
Region 1 - 2, 9, 3, 3, 4
Region 2 - 3, 8, 7, 6, 7
Region 3 - 5, 6, 7, 3, 2
Region 4 - 7, 6, 8, 8, 4
Region 5 - 5, 3, 8, 1, 4
Region 6 - 2, 4, 4, 6, 2

5. A code will appear, indicating the region setting of your player.

6. Press 9 for region-free, or 1 for region 1, 2 for region 2, etc.

7. Press OPEN on the Player to open the disc tray.

8. Press STANDBY (POWER) on the remote control to close the tray. Next time the player is turned on it will set to the region specified.

This is for DVP31XXX series i hope it works all on DVP31 series. It has been tested on DVP3146K /51 and it has been worked...


1. Make sure there is no disc in the player.
2. Turn power off and on again.
3. Open the tray.
4. On the remote, hit 9879 and then 0. This changes unit to Region 0, meaning it'll play all regions.
5. Hit OK on the remote.
