Question about GE Profile Harmony DPGT750EC Electric Dryer

Problem: Moisture Sensor on touch pad will not go into the "on" mode when you push button (it just beeps) and says "off" on the screen. Does the sensor work automatically or do you have to program it to be on? I'm concerned if a load is programmed for 1 hour (like jeans), but the clothes dry in 40 minutes, will it stop at 40 mins or continue for 1 hr because the moisture sensor button is in the "off" mode. GE Tech support has no idea, nothing in manual about it either. HELP!

Generally, timers and sensors are separate but work together. When the sensor is on, it 'knows' how damp the clothes are. You decide how dry you want as an end point. At a certain point, the sensor runs the timer for a certain additional length of time to finish the job to the point you select. Otherwise, the timer is just that. It sounds like either the sensor or the timer board is bad.

The dryer works fine but it randomly turns on and starts beeping. Any ideas?

I would be suspicious of a defective touch screen first. If you would like me to upload a service manual and work along with you on this then please let me know.

Are you having problems with your GE Profile Harmony but don't know where to start to troubleshoot? Let the dryer do it for you, here's how:

It's called "Field Service Mode"
1. Press the POWER key to turn the dryer on.
2. Press HELP. The main help screen is displayed.
3. Press and hold MY CYCLES and BACK simultaneously for 3 seconds. Press EXIT to return to the HOME screen.

The system will give you a description of possible hardware failure and troublecode.

Replace the failed piece of hardware and plug your system back in. It will go through a boot-up sequence and verify that your machine is working once again.

GE Harmony profile DPGT750G Touch screen is blank. can you help?

first unplug the unit from power, remove the control panel so as to view the back side of the screen, then where the small ribbon cable enters the screen make sure it is tight, unplug it and re-plug it in straight and securely,if its loose put a small piece of scotch tape on the insulated side of the ribbon cable where it plugs in to tighten fit, dont put it over the copper connections though

The dampness sensor on the ge profile gas dryer is off - is it possilbe to reset and turn back on?

The dampness sensor is just the two curved metal strips (about 5 inches long, and about an inch apart) located very close to the lint filter. (stick your head in the drum and look back down to your right) These strips can become coated with a waxy substance from fabric softener sheets which prevents them from detecting the moisture correctly. Just clean them off with a little soap solution.

GE Profile gas dryer detected in error.....

unplug the unit for a period of time(2 hrs.) to possibly clear memory, unless they are "Hard-Codes" and can't be erased w/o finding out the service code from g.e.

Clothes are not drying

your blower motor is probably not working. enter the troubleshooting mode by pressing and holding my cycles and help at the same time for 3 seconds. this will tell you the problem. if blower is not getting up to speed you'll have to replace it.
