Question about Hoover F7425-900 SteamVac V2 Widepath Upright Vacuum

Hoover F7425-900 SteamVac V2

I was using my steamvac and it was working fine. Then all of a sudden there was NO water and NO cleaning fluid being dispensed. I went thru the manual and found that I had to clean a screen inside a red holder under the cleaning brushes. I cleaned the screen and cleaned out the area under the cleaning brushes. I also cleaned all the plastic attachments that are mounted on the top of the machine. Still no water and no cleaning fluid. What did I miss?

    Thank You SGregg. There is one step Hoover might have left out. Over time water residue builds up under the clean water tank and might interfere with the seating of the tank on the steam cleaner handle assembly. I checked both of the spring loaded fluid control valves and they are working without "sticking". The one step that is missing might be to soak the bottom of the clean water tank (which includes the cleaning solution tank as well) in white vinegar to remove the water residue. Everything else was checked according to your suggestions, and the list on page 17 of the Owner's Manual. Thank you for your help.

Http:// Heres a link to the manual if you dont have one, Ive emailed them and they gave me the same solutions that are on page 17. ? Make sure tank is securely locked in position ? Clean water tank or detergent container empty ? Refill container according to instructions for surface being cleaned ? Recovery tank lid not on correctly ? Make sure lid is firmly in place ? Valve cap clogged ? Remove and clean valve cap (see following instructions) 1. Remove clean water tank. 2. Turn valve cap (A) counterclockwise and remove. Soak valve cap in warm water for at least 15 minutes. Wipe cap dry. 3. Align slots (B) on cap with tabs (C) in opening. Turn cap clockwise to tighten.

Sounds as though your drive belt has come off. Or you have an object stopping the brushes from rotating.

Under the detergent side, there is a metering plate,(located on the machine) which can be removed. ensure that this is installed. have you verified whether the machine will dispense detergent only without any water in the water tank?

SOURCE: My hoover F745 900 steamvac brushes will not spin.

If you are handy with a screwdriver undo the casing to access the roller. Once open usually about 4-5 screws you will see that the drivebelt ( rubber band ) has broken. This is the piece you need to replace. Usually most electrical store selling cleaners have these. Take the piece along or get the part number from the manual and replace it yourself. Cheaper than having a tech do it at $90 an hr plus the $5 part

This is a notorious problem with the Hoover V2 SteamVac's. In fact the tank design by Hoover on your SteamVac was so bad, that Hoover redesigned this tank almost immediately due to the numerous problems customers were having.

For your particular problem, you really have two options. The first option is putting a bandaid over the problem, but will still fix it. We sell the entire gasket assembly on the bottom of the detergent tank as a replacement part. Unfortunately it's sold together with the seal, spring, and valve together as an assembly;

You also may wish to fix the problem completely by replacing the entire clean water solution tank. Hoover has redesigned this tank, and the new one I don't see near the amount of problems that I do on the older style tanks. The plastic is much more sturdy, and less prone to having the gasket and valve issues that the old tanks do. It's important to point out that the new tank does not come with the handle. You'll need to remove the handle from your old tank if you buy a new tank assembly complete. Rest assured that if you do purchase any part from GoVacuum, you'll have 60 days to return it for a full refund, just in case the repair doesn't work. Not only do we not deduct restocking fees or shipping charges, but we also include a return label with every order that you may use to return any item to us, and we'll even pay for your return shipping!

Here's the Hoover SteamVac V2 Clean Water Solution Tank, Part 12002549

If you'd like us to do a repair photograph series on this repair of the valve and gasket assembly, please just request a repair clarification here on Fixya, and we'll be happy to do so. The scrub brushes dont spin anymore

The brushes are turning by an air driven turbine. The turbine has a pivot bushing made of steel inside of it that gets rusty because of the water that is running through it. The turbine gear will have to be replaced. You can access the turbine gear by removing the hood. You can find a genuine hoover replacement part by following the link below. Just find the model number of your Steamvac.

You didn't give your model number, but if this is a V2, you may have a crack in the tank, alot of times it is underneath the seal on the bottom. Or the plunger at the bottom of the tank is stuck open or missing.

Either you need a new tank, or there is a problem with the platform that the tank sits on. The tank has to sit correctly or it won't work.
