SOURCE: No glow plug light, car turns over but won't start, no CEL or codes

I don't have the solution but a possible help in diagnosing.  If you remove the water temperature sensor connector from the sensor, the glow plug light should stay on when you go to start the car.  Try leaving it on for 15 seconds and then start the car.  If it starts right away, it is your sensor.  If it doesn't, the good luck.
The sensor is located on the right side of the engine near the top, at the back.  It is in the coolant fitting directly behind the hose from the rad, just left of the thermostat.  Be careful to disconnect the wires, and not remove the sensor, or you will loose a lot of coolant.  The sensor is held in by a separate plastic clip, and the harness just has a little built in clip on the side.  Hope you have small hands...

SOURCE: VW passat glow plug problem

Yes you have a defective glow plug relay if you have your owners manual you can find it and replace it, the unit also has a timer on it, if you don't have a book look for the glow plugs and follow the wires from the glow plugs to where they terminate there you will find the relay unit and replace it, to test the glow plugs you remove the wires and test each plug by pulling off the wire and with a cheep ohm meter touch one end to the glow plug and one end to ground if it swings almost al the way over it is ok, if it dos not move then that glow plug is bad. if you find 2 or more bad then replace them all, and if a glow plug has shorted and caused this problem you will have to replace the glow plug relay. Good luck.

SOURCE: mondeo diesal 2002, glow plug light

Hi

The glow plug coming on on the Diesel Mondeo is an engine management fault indicator. The car goes into "limp mode" when this happens or in other words safety mode is triggered. This explains your loss of power.

To find the cause of this light coming on - the car will have to go on an OBD scanner at a service shop which will read the codes stored in the cars computer and give you an answer as to what is causing the fault to show.

Hope this helps - please remember to rate my answer as ratings are important to me as an expert on the site. Thank You.

Glow plug light wont go out

Your diesel vehicle is equipped with glow plugs, and also with a Glow Plug Light that will either come on and stay on, or flash or blink when a fault is detected by the ECU (engine management unit). When the Glow Plug Light comes on, the ECU stores information about the condition that has caused it to come on.4 Jan 2016

Landcruiser 05 1HZ, Glow Plug Light comes on when I decelerate and goes off when I accelerate again - any idea

Hello kbmind, A number of different glow plug systems were used on the Landcruiser, depending where it was made and what country it was shipped to. However, they all serve the same purpose on a diesel injection. To preheat the combustion chambers. If your light is on when you deaccelerate the control module thinks the cylinder is cooling down & fires up the glow plug. This usually indicates the glow plug relay is weak and/or the glow plugs themself are worn.
Depending on your mileage, i would say it's the relay. The glow plugs can be tested with an ohm meter to determine if they need to be replaced. I hope this helps.

Mercedes class 200 cdi. when i start the car the glow plug lights stays on for couple of mins then goes of?????

This is normal, the glow plugs are building heat in the cylinders to help ignite the diesel. They should cycle off and on until the engine warms up.
