Thank you - it is fixed now. I had the advanced settings set for access control but did not specify a MAC address. That disables all wireless connections.

If you connect the computer to the router , it works.
That means the wired connection is OK.
Open the set up page of the router check the wireless settings of the router.
I think your network is secured and you are not typing the correct network key.
just open the router set up and check the wireless settings .
Make sure that the DHCP server on the router is enabled

Have you tried connecting your computer directly to your modem to see if it is your router creating the problems?
If you get a good stable connection might need to pick up a new router.

Connecting a cpi to the internet ?

1) You can use a PCMCIA card (for example a Dell Fast Ethernet 10/100 Base-TX by 3Com) with a 'dongle' to connect to the ethernet cable via an existing card slot on the left side.

2) You can get a docking station set-up (i.e. Latitude 'C/Dock') which comes with the ethernet cable connection. ...pretty affordable used on the 'net.

3) If you has a wireless router you could hook a wireless USB adapter tp connect wireless to yout router.

Dell c640 wireless connectivity problem

hi.
That's gonna be a permissions problem in the way the wireless device was set up originally. Go to network devices, properties (of the wireless connection) and check advanced options for permissions. Also check the way the firewall was set up, and if it allows the connection you are requiring.
Good luck
