No the problem is that it seems like all food stuff is not being washed or rinsed away, neatly covering all dishes with washed debris! Kinda like thei s a blockage, checked filter in bottom, but that not full, but thats the kinda debris left, get me?

  • ajp Apr 18, 2009

OK, the dishwasher is in my rented house, so I have asked the tennant to do the up turned glass thing & she will report back to me & I will continue later with the dialog. Another clue is that it was not being used for a few months when I moved out & it was untennanted, she said for the first week it was washing green/black sludge on dishes, that now has disapaited, but still not good clean. She has been in for 3 weeks. Cheers

We ran the test with up turned cups in dishwaher top & bottom trays & they filled with water, but with a brown sediment in the bottom of the cups, what now?

  • ajp Apr 20, 2009

a friend mentioned that under the bottom grille ( that can be removed she said with difficulty) it is a fisher & paykel, sometimes a piecs of glass can get under there? Can this grille be removed?

I think the debris is the sort of stuff that is left on plates etc when the spinning rinser arm thing has been caught like with a plate & is not allowing a propert rinse. What is spinning water distributers are not working properly?

Check the filter from your water supply to the dish water if you have one. then if you don't have one the problem is your spinner don't work properly he don't supply enough water to clean it all.

Usually this is caused by the dishwashing detergent. Is this a new machine, and/or are you using a liquid or gel detergent? Try a solid detergent after letting it run without anything a few times and clean it out if needed. It sounds like whatever detergent you are using just isn't compatible with the machine.

Please let me know what you find and if you have any other questions.

Sounds like then either you have a water pump problem or a water clog then if it is the food and the water isn't getting to the dishes. Try running the machine with a glass right side up on the bottom and the top and see if they fill up with water. If not, then it sounds like you I am right on the water issue, but let me know what you find.

Well it sounds like something has built up in the machine and possibly everything could use a good cleaning but did this just start happening (is this right after the 3 months of no use), what changed otherwise? Please let me know anything you can and let me know the outcome of the glasses.

The dishwasher needs to be totally cleaned, every part and inlet that is dirty. Do you know what the brown stuff is? Rust possibly? It is probably coming from the water inlet which is mainly what needs to be cleaned. If you run the machine enough times, it should get better and better as time goes on if you can't find the source which could be a number of things from the water pump in the machine to the pipes in the house running to it.

The easiest thing to do for now is to constantly run the machine. Just wash and rinse cycle and it should get better as time goes on. If it doesn't then you will need to tear apart the machine and find the component that is doing this which again might not be the machine but the pipes running to the machine. Let me know if you have questions on this.

Residue left in glasses and a film on the dishes

The problem is hard water. www.dishwasherfilter.com has a product to solve this problem once and for all. It filters the water going into your dishwasher and removes the hard minerals that leave those spots. It is very affordable and even has a money back guarantee. You will love the way your dishes look with this product.

I just took mine apart (bottom turntable, screen, etc.) and I was disgusted by the grime and gum that was clogging everything. I think it was keeping all the water a gritty white, which constantly left residue. I am currently running a load... hope that the "clean" dishwasher actually washes my dishes now!

Dishes have soap residue despite using rinse aid. Machine is quite abrasive on coffee mugs etc. Unit is Fisher & Paykel DD605SS

use less soap.....excess soap in the rinse cycle will not allow the dishes to rinse properly causing white etching on the glasses and the dishes will have that gritty feeling

White Residue

most likely it is your detergent. palmolive eco is notorious for leaving a white chalky residue on dishes. try this out before calling a service tech: put unclean glasses in the dishwasher and in your soap dish and rinse cycle cup put 1/2 cup of distilled white vinegar. if it cleans (or improves) your dishes, then your detergent is the culprit.
