Question about Dell Inspiron 6400 Notebook

Dell Inspiron 6400 Computer keeps freezing, I have to hold the on switch down to turn it off or else it just beeps at me. I also constantly get a blue screen saying ati2dvag has created a loop error. I have updated driver but the problem is still there. I have windows xp home. video card is ati radeon x1400.

Loks like the Video Card is defective.

I wonder if you have a keyboard issue. Most times the constant beeping means the keyboard is bad, but it doesn't normally boot or revert back to 5 or 4 beeps.

I would like to know the shortcut key(? alt F9) to completely autoreinstall windows in dell inspiron 6400


if you are talking about the factory settings restore
1: windows XP- restart.. on dell logo hold down ctrl and tab F11 and push the restore tab as u see it
2: vista- restart .. on dell logo tap F8 and select repair my computer.. login as admin.. from the list choose dell factory image restore and confirm data deletion.

STEP: Run the Preboot System Assessment (PSA)
Additional Information
  1. Ensure that the computer is powered off.
  2. Press and hold <Fn> and press the power button to power the computer on.
  3. Release both buttons. The PSA diagnostics sequence begins.
  4. Make note of any PSA beep codes or PSA error codes
Check for PSA Error codes on support.dell.com.

If all Test Passed. Then Perform Dell Factory restore or OSRI.

Dell Inspiron 6400 doesn't boot up properly, and won't turn off.


Try holding down Cntrl-Alt-Delete If that dosen't do it, and it's locked up, you should be able to pull the battery with minimal if any risk Profile settings must be set in administrator mode. Try booting in safe mode

Switching on the laptop


Try holding the power button down for about 10 seconds. Then try turning it on.
Next remove the battery and try to start with just mains power.
Next replace the battery in the computer and let it charge.
If this does not work you will probably have to contact Dell
