I don't have a picture, but the belt will go around the motor output wheel and the dryer drum itself, aswell as a tensioner usualy close to the motor. the path should be worn into the dryer drum, and be hard to miss

Start button starts dryer and dryer stops when button is released.

Ge dryers have a belt sensing switch inside that won't let the dryer run (just as you describe) when the belt breaks or comes off. My guess is you broke a belt. With door open---hold in button door switch and hit the start switch to get it too run a few seconds. Watch the drum and see if it turns. My guess it will not. Belt is a long skinny band that goes all around the drum outer area and then down around the motor.

Whirlpool Dryer turned on all lights and selection operate. When you push hold button to start. The Dryer clicks and does nothing. All lights and selections remain same. MDL # GEW9250PW0

check for a broken belt, there is what is called a "broken belt" switch down by the drum motor inside the unit and when the belt breaks or come loose it shuts off this switch to prevent the unit from heating and running to protect against fires from no movement and air flow

The drum on my Whirlpool dryer model LEN2000LW0 stopped turning around. I'm guessing that a belt broke?

There can be many reasons why your dryer will not start or turn...

Need model number or part number for whilpool dryer

The model number for your dryer is usually located on a plate or sticker inside the door on the body of the dryer hidden by the closed door.

The most common (but not the only) belt number for Whirlpool dryers is 341241 and the idler arm for that common dryer has tabs that fit into the floor beneath the motor drive pulley. Take a loop of the belt with ribs inside the loop and pass it through the opening below the roller and loop it around the motor pulley. If it's the most common unit the end result should look like the image below for Whirlpool:

Belt Configuration

Good Luck

Belt broke on Whirlpool elec. dryer. How to remove front panel?

Pull out the filter from the top and get those screws out that attach the filters housing to the top. Then get a putty knife and release this spring clips holding down the top. Then get the 2 screws off from inside and raise up an inch to release the panel clips.

Whirlpool dryer heats but the drum doesn't rotate

There is usually a large belt that goes around the drum to turn it ...it is either fallen off the motor pulley , broke .....or the motor may be gone in it ....not sure if there are any fuses for the motor on your dryer .
If you can tip the dryer over the bottom is usually open and you can see the motor and belt from there
