Sunburst pattern on blue screen

One month after I replaced the lamp, the screen all of the sudden turned to a blue screen with a yellow sunburst pattern in the center with some static - no sound either. All device inputs gave the same blue screen. Menus did come up, however were flashing and flickering. Reset the system with no change so I unpulgged it for the night. In the morning, plugged back in and turned it on and got the "burned-out lamp" LED luminated.

Re: Sunburst pattern on blue screen

I doubt it. The lamp does not cause problems. If the ballast is bad, this could blow out the lamp.

Lamp is bad. Where did you buy it? Did you use the Mitsubishi part?

Yellow and blue on screen

I am slightly confused about the model of the television, because a 46F500 is a rear projection set that doesn't have a lamp. It has 3 picture tubes and I have a few of them in my shop right now that have the problem you reported. What we do to this set when it develops a convergence issue is to check each resistor around the convergence chips for discoloration, and replace any of them that have changed in value, along with the STK392-150 ic's. If you don't have an ohm meter and solder/desolder equiptment, you can usually get a shop to do this repair for 150.00 to 350.00. Parts will be 50.00 and labor , the rest, depending on the quality of repair shop that you use. Good luck, Russmann.

Picture separated on 1/2 of screen

This sounds like a convergence problem. This is a common problem that is usually fixed 98% of the time by re-placing the STK392-020 ic or STK392-110, and check the fuse devices on the covergence PCB. I'm sure the actual parts numbers depend on the peticular brand. Good Luck!
