Question about Panasonic PT-50LC13 50" Rear Projection HDTV

How do I clean air filter on the Panasonic PT-50LCX64?

Warning light comes on that T.V. will shut off in one minute & to call a technician to clean air filter.

We did just that & got ripped off for $400.00. This technician did not know how to clean this air filter, & for good reason, Panasonic doesn't either.

I called Panasonic & they referred me to a download on their site for another T.V. the PT-52LCX15-B. That download does not download.

We have taken off the front cover & vacumned--the "filter." The filter does not come out on this T.V. We have taken off the back & found another filter which also does not come out & vacumned that one too.

Please--is there anyone out there that knows how to clean this air filter on this specific T.V? The PT-50LCX64?

Thanks for your reply. If I unplug the set from the outlet & plug it back in--I can hear the fan start up--so I don't think that the problem. Also our air filters didn't appear to be dirty? Therefore, I don't know if the warning is programmed into the T.V or what?

I am a little frustrated with this T.V. set--it has cost us a lot of money. One thing for certain--I don't believe I'll be calling any more T.V repairman out on this.

The next time I buy a projection T.V.--I am going to insist that I get a service manual with it, not just the owners manual.

    Thanks again for your reply

I feel bad for you having such problems with the vendor and the technician too.
The location of that filter could be a small window in the back cover itself. could be a plastic window to the left side of the unit and is only a piece of plastic poliuretane kind of black sponge about 5 by 3 inches size .
What im interested telling you about the shut down condition and is maybe even most important than where is the air filter (who is one of the more than ten posibilities why the tv goes to shut down.
Note:
if the air filter is totally obstructed i would give one of ten probabities of suspicious why the tv shuts down:
first because the tv's air duct is not really isolated. The fan can eat air by any side of the air filter base as i said if the filter is totally obstructing which is really extreme. besides maybe the other 2 fans could help to cool down the unit in that case scenario. In my experience Most time the air filter holds tons of dust but is not totally obstructing the air passing, and really some other problems are in the set.

This is the really critical to know: if any of those fans stopped or maybe any sensor is overheated or the lamp is coming to dead or who knows.. a diagnosis is needed for this symptom really common in DLP technology.

filled what tank? if the compressor never comes on it could be because of no or low freon levels or bad start components to the compressor or a bad capacitor to the compressor or fan motor. you may need to call a company to take a look at it, i am a technician myself so please just get a couple different opinions so you do not get ripped off.

I have a model number PT-50LCX64 Panasonic rear projection TV. After turning on the TV about 3 minutes will elapse and TV will automatically turn off by itself.

Probably the fan isn't working or is dirty and needs cleaning. The projector bulb is overheating and shutting down the TV. Clean or replace the fan.

I have the same problem with my 50" panasonic PT-50LCX64 tv. I have a call into a technician to see if it is going to be a cost effective repair, I am very unhappy with their technical support. I also have removed the bace and cleaned everything back there and blew it out. Their techs. say it is an internal filter that has to be cleaned by a service center or dealer. They will not say where the filter is at so I can clean it myself.

This is stright from Panasonic.

The consumer is not able to change the air filter. It will have to be done by an
authorized Panasonic service center."
