Pioneer VSX-9700S Audio/Video Receiver powers on then shuts off

The receiver powers up and plays for about 5 minutes then will stop playing altogether. I purchased it new about 7 years ago, but only use it about once a month....Is it repairable?

The Pioneer 9700s is a very good sounding unit, if you are talking in home threater space, but your problem sound like the power amplifer section is giving out too HIGH DC voltage therefore ripping the protection circuit. In these newer home threater ammplifers, there are not dc offset voltage adjustment on the circuit brd. All is done by negative feed back. Sorry you ar eout of luck I don,t hinkit is worth fixing. They are not as well make as the older Sa7500, and Sa9800 amplifers of old. There is a good chance that aftera few month something else will go on them. That is why they are so cheap on Ebay, these thraeter receivers.

The problem is not clear. Does the unnamed multichanger turn of/on wit hthe VSX-498 or is the VSX-489 having power issues?

Is the power cord of the multichanger plugged into the back of the VSX maybe the outlet is SWITCHED with the power state of the VSX..

Have a Pioneer VSX-1018 receiver. When I connect

You speakers are out of phase. Check to see if the polarity is correct on the receiver and the speaker. Positive (red) with positive, negative with negative (black). Also check the impedance of the speaker, it should be located on the back of the speaker measured in ohms. Make sure that your receiver matches the impedance of your speaker. You can find this in the settings of the receiver.

Pioneer VSX-D411 receiver "Amp Error" message

Hello,
Unfortunatelly your receiver has failed. The front panel is telling you one of the power modules is probably bad. Not an DIY type of repair. These parts are near $40.00, plus cost of replacing.
Look at options to replace your trusted receiver with a new one.
Good luck
