Question about Panasonic PT-47WX49 47" Rear Projection Television
When I took the chips off the foil peeled off on a couple of the pins (maybe the size of a BB) around the hole. Will this make a disconnection?
It certainly will. This is the connection. I think you may have used a soldering iron that was way too hot for this purpose. You need to get a 20 watt pencil type soldering iron. You will also need to get some small insualted wire to reconnect the new pins to the first solder joint downstream from the pin by following the foil. I hope you are using the proper solder as well. Flux core (not acid core).
