2007 Toro LX 425 Riding Mower, slow cranking.

I have a 2007 Toro LX 425 Riding Mower, I have used it for two years with no work required, except oil changes. This year when I went to start it it cranked slow and would not start. I am getting fuel and spark, but when cranking it over it cranks as if the battery is about dead. I pulled the battery and charged it, same, I even hooked jumper cables to it and a car battery and it did the same thing. Any ideas??

Was the starter and the celenoid. Starter was bad, celenoid had a loose connection on the wire to the starter. $80 for a new starter and tighten up the connections, and it is off and running. Thanks all.

Battery charged? Bad fuel? Low on oil? 30w oil required. Clean carb. Check for improper ground on starting circuit. Ignition switch providing power to starter when key turned? Always use Stabile in gas. Remove bowl from carb ensure float is working properly. Float up no fuel flow, float down fuel flow. Ensure oil is full, low oil shutoff will not allow starting.

P have a Toro riding mower and found that when I drained the oil it appeared to have gas in it. Last season near the end of the year it would blow a black liquid out the exhaust when it started.

It seems the carburetor is flooding and overflowing into the crankcase. This is a common problem. Need to determine what type of carb. you have: Walbro or Nikki to suggest a fix. Some simply put an in-line shut off valve between the tank and the carb. and turn the fuel "off" when they are not using the mower. You will need to change the oil and oil filter (if you have one). Hope this helps.

I have a Toro lawn mower that I purchased last year, it was working great until one day I was using it and advance for the propell stopped working. Also I noticed the mower will not roll backwards. Please...

I know this may sound too simple, but Toro warranties their mowers for 2 full years to the original owner. Go to www.TORO.com to find your nearest servicing dealer. They should be able to repair your mower at no cost to you.

This sounds like there is possible an internal transmission failure on your mower.

Good luck!

Toro is a great brand, but the Home depot models are for home use. IF it won't start correctly you should troubleshoot the problem as this is a built in safey system for your benefit. There is a switch on both parking breaks, A switch to detect you sitting in the seat. The PTO must be disengaged. Check each of these. If you have your manual you can view the schematic diagram, and test each switch. If not, you can download a manual from Toro web site. According to your model and serial number your deck would only have two blades. They also have what they call "blade stiffeners" . Your results from buying power equipment from a big box store is typical. If you need service, pay a little more, and buy from your local power equipment distributor.
