Inner 'glass' of door

Actually my appliance is the Whirlpool MH7100XYQ 0 microwave. The "inner glass" of the door has a slight crack. When using microwave, 'fog' appears on the outer glass. 1st - is it still safe to run the microwave? 2nd - can the "inner glass" part be replaced? If so, how?

The inner glass can and should be replaced. It protects the metal mesh screen from getting dirty, which can cause it to be damaged and allow microwave leakage. 4. Once you remove the door you will see the inner metal mesh and the inner door behind it.

5. Remove the 16 screws holding the inner glass with a special star type screw driver bit no T30.

PS. Becareful of the inner door once you've removed the outer door, as the hinges holding the inner door tend to shut quickly as there is less weight on the hinges.

How do you remove Whirlpool microwave mh7140x door to replace white plastic door face?

If you are referring to the disassembly and replacement of the door, just follow these steps:
1. Open the door all the way and lift straight up at the hinges. The door will lift off of the hinge pins. On some microwaves, you may have to remove the upper grill cover over the door (if equipped) to accommodate door removal. Place on a hard flat surface with some towels under it for padding. This protects the door facing from scatches.

NOTE: Some doors have a hinge pin that needs to be removed, or screws holding the door in place at the hinge.

2. On MOST microwave ovens, all you have to do is remove the inner door panel that goes around the perimeter of the glass. The panel is pressed in place and can be removed by using a small screwdriver or putty knife and carefully insert along the seam of the inner panel to release the clips that hold it in place so you can pry the plastic up. Work your way slowly around the perimeter of the glass to pop the panel loose. Use care not to pry against the glass. The glass is tempered and also has an RF shield that shields you from harmful RF radiation.

3. With the inner panel removed, locate the door handle screws and remove with a screwdriver.

4. The panel glass should be "sandwiched" in place (double layer on most ovens) and should either lift out, or have retaining clips holding in place. Remove and set aside.

5. The remaining piece(s) comprise the door frame. Replace as necessary.

REASSEMBLY: Re-insert the panel glass, followed by the inner door panel, gradually working your way around the perimeter of the door glass to ensure it snaps back into place and seats properly.

There are several parts sources available that you can use to purchase replacement parts:

searspartsdirect.com
pcappliancerepair.com
appliancepartspros.com
repairclinic.com

The first three sites on the list also offer helpful exploded view parts listings to aid in parts identification and location. Just type in your model number and locate the parts listing for the door. If you have any questions, or require additional assistance, please let me know. I hope this advice is helpful.

Own Whirlpool Microwave oven Model MH6141XKQ. How does one clean the "inside" glass of the door. By inside, I mean between the two glasses on the door.

You will need to remove the door and take the door apart to clean between the glass. This process is not that difficult. Just follow these steps:

1. Open the door all the way and lift straight up at the hinges to remove from oven.

2. Place the door, face down on a soft surface to protect the door and glass. A layer of towels on a countertop or table is recommended.

3. Remove the inner door panel that goes around the perimeter of the glass. The panel is pressed in place and can be removed by using a small screwdriver or putty knife and carefully insert along the seam of the inner panel. Work your way slowly around the perimeter of the glass to release the clips that hold it in place so you can pry the plastic up and pop the panel loose. Use care not to pry against the glass.

4. With the inner panel removed, the glass should be easily accessible and can be carefully lifted out and cleaned. Clean with a good non-streaking glass cleaner.

Make sure you remember how the door is assembled as you take it apart. If you forget, the following webistes have illustrated parts listings to show how your door is assembled:

searspartsdirect.com
pcappliancerepair.com
appliancepartspros.com

If you have any questions, please post back and let me know. I hope this helps you.

Replacing a whirlpool microwave door handle! got the new handle..how do I open the door up to screw the new handle on?

To replace the door handle you need to access the door handle screws. On MOST microwave ovens, you just have to remove the inner door panel that goes around the perimeter of the glass. This can be easily be accomplished by using a small screwdriver or putty knife and carefully insert along the seam of the inner panel and pry the plastic up. Work your way slowly around the perimiter of the glass to pop the panel loose. Use care not to pry against the glass. The glass is tempered and also has an RF shield that shields you from harmful RF radiation.

With the inner panel removed, the door handle screws are visibile and can easily be accessed with a screwdriver. Simply remove the broken handle and install the new one. Re-insert the inner door panel, gradually working your way around the perimeter of the door glass to ensure it snaps back into place and seats properly.

This repair can be done with the door in place, or you can remove it for easier access. If you decide the remove the door, open it all the way and lift straight up at the hinges.

You can view an exploded view diagram of your microwave at pcappliancerepair.com for reference. Just type in your model number and locate the parts listing for the door. If you have any questions, or require additional assistance, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

The door handle on my GE Spacemaker XL model JVM1330BW 003 broke off so I decided to replace the entire oven. Can you recommend a replacement that will fit into the same recess and have the exhaust vent...

If the outer door is not broken. All you have to do is replace the handle. You will need to access the door handle mounting screws and remove them to replace the door handle. To access the screws on MOST microwave ovens, you must remove the inner door panel that goes around the perimeter of the glass. This can be accomplished by using a small screwdriver or putty knife and carefully insert along the seam of the inner panel and pry the plastic up. Work your way slowly around the perimiter of the glass to pop the panel loose. Use care not to pry against the glass. The glass is tempered and also has an RF shield that shields you from harmful microwaves.

Re-insert the inner door panel, gradually working your way around the perimeter of the door glass to ensure it snaps back into place and seats properly.

This repair can be done with the door in place, or you can remove it for easier access. If you decide the remove the door, open it all the way and lift straight up at the hinges.

You can view an exploded view diagram of your microwave at pcappliancerepair.com for reference. Just type in your model number and locate the parts listing for the door. The part number for the door handle is WB15X10020. If the outer panel is damaged, you may have to replace the entire door. The part number is WB55X991. The cheapest web source I have found the handle listed is appliancepartspros.com for $47. The entire door, however, sells for $110 at pcappliancerepair.com.

The RF inside the cavity of a microwave oven is actually controlled by the RF shield in the glass. As long as the glass is intact and the inner door facing is not bowed, warped or cracked, you will not have to worry about RF leakage (even with the handle broken off).

If you have any questions, or require additional assistance, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

The handle on my maytag microwave oven broke off at the bottom. How do I replace ? Model MMV5165BA

The door handle can easily be replaced without the assistance of a repairman. This is a common problem with some microwave oven doors.

This is not difficult. To access the door handle mounting screws on MOST microwave ovens, you have to remove the inner door panel that goes around the perimeter of the glass. You can use a small screwdriver to carefully pry the plastic up and work your way slowly around the perimiter of the glass. Most microwave ovens also have grooves in the panel that you can insert the screwdriver into. Use care not to pry against the glass. The glass is tempered and also has an RF shield that prevents harmful microwaves from potentially harming the consumer. If you break the glass, you will need to purchase a new door.

The door handle screws are located behind the inner panel. Simply remove the broken handle and install the new one. Re-insert the inner door panel carefully and gradually work your way around the perimeter of the door glass and make sure it snaps back into place.

Replacement parts can be found at any of the following sites:

appliancepartspros.com
searspartsdirect.com
pcappliancerepair.com
repairclinic.com

I hope this helps you.
