If the waste ink absorber is really full, you will have to disassemble the printer removing the absorbing pad, cleaning in in a sink (this may release a lot of ink) and put it back. Sending this printer out for repairs is not worth the price, you can get a new one with roughly same amount you would pay.

By the way , when you get the Waste Ink Absorber message , usually the waste ink absorber is not full, if this is first time it happens you can reset the counter and printer will probably work.

Here there is a procedure:

1) Close the print head cover, and turn off the printer. While pressing the Resume/Cancel button, press the Power button. (Do not release the buttons. The LED lights in green to indicate that a function is selectable.)

2) While holding the Power button, release the Resume/Cancel button. (Do not release the Power button.)

3) While holding the Power button, press the Resume/Cancel button three times, and then release the Power and Resume/Cancel buttons. (Each time the Resume/Cancel button is pressed, the LED lights alternately in either orange or green, starting with orange.) During initialization, the LED blinks in green.

4) When the LED stops blinking and lights in green, press the Resume/Cancel button the 4 times. (Each time the Resume/Cancel button is pressed, the LED lights alternately in either orange or green, starting with orange.)

5) Press the Power button. The LED lights in green, and the
selected function is performed. (When the operation completes, the printer returns to the menu selection mode automatically.)

6) Power off then back on and test.

Waste ink absorber full

Open your printer.

To protect hands from Ink wear thin latex (or similar) gloves
.

Locate the Waste Ink Pads on the inside of your printer
. They are on the right hand side and are quite small.

You can remove the pads and the holder with a gentle pull
.

Using a tissue, soak up as much ink as possible and clean the area around the waste ink area
.

There is one more waste holder in the right back bottom of the printer. A kind of sponge. There are few screws and plastic parts to be removed and this sponge needs to be washed, dried and placed again. Be careful and patient. This is no understatement. Take a photograph (even with your cell phone) so you can trace back your steps. You also need to take care as you lift the slide/carriage. Below this you find 5 little springs.

Carefully replace the holder and the pads
. Close printer.

Whilst printer is disconnected from the mains power, press and hold the power button and reconnect to ac power
.

Release the power button
.

Press the power button again
.

Message The waste ink absorber is almost full. Where is it?

You have to replace the waste ink absorber means that you have to replace ink cartridge.
Follow bellow steps to replace it.
  • First of all you will need these things napkin, replacement ink absorber.
  • Move the cartridge cradle center of the printing unit.Unplug the printer so that it will remain in its position.
  • Locate the waste ink absorber in their black rubber frame. It will likely be on the right side of your printer and will be located underneath the area where the ink cartridges rest when your printer is in standby mode.
  • To soak up any excess ink that may be in the pads by pressing it down onto the top of the frame, use napkin for soak up.
  • Pull the rubber frame free from the printer and carefully remove ink absorber.
  • Insert a new ink absorber pad into the printer by same inverse method.Be careful to pulling and pushing.

Message" waste ink absorber"

There is an absorbent sponge in the bottom of your waste ink container to help contain the waste ink your printer generates when it cleans the print head nozzles. That sponge is probably full and has triggered a "most informative" error message!

Check your user's manual about the procedure for changing the absorber and where to buy new ones.

Indicates waste ink absorber is almost full on cannon i9900 print

Inkjet printers have a fibrous pad inside them that collects the waste ink from cleaning the print head. Over time, this pad fills up with ink and can no longer hold any more. When this occurs, the printer indicates a "waste ink full" error.

The waste ink absorption pads cannot be emptied, only replaced.

Replacing the waste ink absorption pads is something an authorized canon service facility can take care of for you. Once they are replaced, it'll be functional again.

Waste ink absorber is full

Hi!
The printer counts every single droplet ejected by the print head due to waste ink absorber capacity. When the waste ink counter rise to about 90 % the printer shows message 'Waste Ink Absorber Near Full'; in this stage we can still continue printing by pressing Resume button until waste ink absorber capacity reach 100% and 'Waste Ink Absorber is Full' appears.
To fix this problem you have to reset waste ink counter to 0%. Even though we can just reset waste ink counter without resetting waste ink counter, it strongly recommended that you replace waste ink absorber to prevent ink flooding inside the printer.
To reset waste ink counter, perform the following steps:
  • Plug in power cable
  • While pressing Resume button press and hold Power button (do nor release the buttons)
  • Release Resume button (still hold Power button)
  • Press Resume button twice in a row (still hold Power button), after that release both Resume and Power button (then the printer standing bye)
  • Press Resume button 4 times then turn off the printer
In this stage your printer has operated as usual.

Printer says ''waste Ink absorber is full'' see service center

This is what the manual says: Ink used for cleaning is absorbed in a waste ink absorber placed in the machine. Press [OK] to cancel the error so that you can continue printing. Once the waste ink absorber becomes completely full, printing cannot be done until the waste ink absorber is replaced.
Canon recommends to contact a Canon service representative as soon as possible.
