Question about Cameras

1 Answer

File error Hi After taking about 20 photos, I went back to view them & the last 6 had disappeared showing only a blue screen & file error on the display. I then took another picture which was there for the 2 second delay, then when I went to view it, it had disappeared. I took 2 more photos today & both are currently still there when I view, however, 1 has shrunk to a tiny square in the middle of the display! When I copied them to my pc, the photos that disappeared show no preview available, but there is something there as the file size for each image is approx 2.4 mb - but where is the picture??? HELP!! I have a 2GB Sony memory stick Pro Duo card in the camera. Could it be a faulty card?

I have seen this problem with generic SD memory cards so it could be a faulty memory stick.  Try to get a replacement.  If you want to try to recover the pictures you have taken, I suggest Zero Assumption Recovery (Google for it). Check to see if it is compatible with your camera before downloading.

I have just put photos on my desktop bit there is a blue arrow at bottom left corner of each photo and I can not edit, send, also when I go back to my camera to view them a file error message on screen

You didn't put the photos on your Desktop. You only placed a shortcut there. Do a search for the photos by using one of the assigned names or photo numbers in the search and open the file location.

File error means it cant read the file or the file is corrupt, i would try a new memory card or format the one you have.

File Error report on a W80 camera....

I had the same problem.
First, I changed my Memory-Stick, because after taking about 60 pictures the famous file error appeared.
Secondly, if the camera shows the famous "file error" this can be resolved - at least in my case - by taking out the battery for at least 4 hours.
So, if your camera is not in use, always take out the memory-stick and the battery and the problem does not appear. This helped in my case.
However, this is in my opinion anything but satisfying. I had a Nikon Coolpix nd never experienced any problems like the "file error" of the sony digicams.

DirectCD and cd1000 and File Error viewing on cd1000

I've had some errors on my discs. What I've found is after you finalize them, if there is still room on the disc you can initialize then and use the empty space still on them. This can also fix some error, and I don't know why.
