Question about Ovens
Hi We have an AEG Competence Oven that works and then cuts out. What I mean is that it heats up then the fan and light go off and then come back on later - and so on and so on. We tried to have the mother in law around for roast chicken but nearly ended up killing her with food poisoning. It is an AEG Competence oven with no brand number - however it has 3 buttons all in a row underneath the digital display - one is a minus sign, one a clock sign and one a plus sign. There is also a number on the inside of the door which reads PNC 944 181 819. Please help. Thanks

If fan has stopped altogether, then you definately need a new one, to be sure you need to disconnect and remove the fan and bench test it.
Hook up a 240v supply to the fan and see if it runs, if not then it is no good..
It does not matter which terminals you connect live and neutral too as it is common to both terminals. do not connect feed to earth by mistake.
Plz leave feedback.

If the fan is working o/k, then you need replace the oven element.
To access this, remove inner rear cover of oven, there you will see the circular element.
Unscrew the screws securing it ,and remove element.
Detach wires and transfer to new element, be careful not to lose the wires behind the oven rear, refit element and rear cover.
please rate my solution.

SOURCE: AEG Competence Oven not working
If you are certain that the element is o/k, and it is not heating, then thwere are 2 possibilitues.
1- the oven thermostat could be faulty, whereby it is giving a feed to the element.
2-some ovens have a fan only setting, as well as heat and fan, make sure that it is not on a fan only setting.
Hope this helps.
