Akai X-360 Reel to Reel won't play

Have an Akai X-360 that doesn'tplay. It fires up OK, motor is spinning, etc but nothing happens whenyou hit the transport buttons (play, rewind etc). There's a click fromthe rewind relay but no sign of life from the other relays.

Could this be that all the relays are faulty? or something else???

Thanks Guys!

The Akai X-360 will not function if the remote control or the remote dummy plug is not plugged in to the back of the machine. The remote Dummy plug has two jumpers for completing the circuit paths for the relays so that the front panel buttons will function.

Check the tape path to make sure that the tape is correctly threaded as a preliminary check.

If you do have the remote or dummy plug installed, then there may be a problem with the capstan drive belt. Over the years the belt will break down into a gooey consistancy due to chemical changes. Replacing the belt will require some cleaning before installing a new one.

Captan belts and dummy plugs are available on line.

All that I have left of my Akai X-360 is the Dummy Plug, owners manual, and the schematic diagrams. It was stolen from my residence about 30 years ago and was never recovered. It was the best one I had.

Frigidaire galaxy series makes ice but won't dispense

If nothing at all happens then check the micro switch on the lever/button section. This will probably require taking the dispenser section off. If nothing at all is happening its as though it doesn't register the dispense, if the switch worked then at least something would happen ie the flap, the drive motor etc

The PLAY function of my Cassette desk doesn't work anymore

Well two things have to happen to make tape move in a cassette deck. One is the Capstan shaft has to rotate and that is usually a belt link to a motor through a pulley. The second thing is you must have take-up torque. If the tape moves but the take-up reel does not pull it onto the take-up reel then you either have a eaten tape or the deck will shut off. in your complaint it could be any of these items- maybe a bad Idler from the reel motor or the capstan belt is old and stretched.

I have a single cassette deck Philips DC 900 when you hit the play button,it plays for about 5 seconds then stops and head retracts. Belts have been replaced

It's not seeing the takeup reel turning.
Either the takeup reel isn't turning or the takeup reel sensor has malfunctioned.
Check the belt to the takeup reel by doing a fast forward.
Will it fast forward? and is the takeup reel spinning during playback?
