Question about Nintendo Game Boy Color Console

1 Answer

It lets me save my game, but when I want to load it, its not there.

I have all the original Pokemon game boy color games, and now none of them will hold a saved game. I play and save before I turn off, but when I come back to play again my gane has been delted. I'm really confused.

It's strange that you say that none of them can save, because Gold and Silver are notorious for this, but the other ones aren't

Either way, the problems with cartridges is that they back up memory to an internal battery. Now with most games that is fine, and there will almost never be a problem with it, however, with Gold and Silver, there was an internal clock, which was kept ticking even when you were not playing. to remedy this, you much physically replace the battery.

here are some nifty instructions:

Lately, many GBC games have hit their age limit. there is a small battery inside each cartridge that allows your game to be saved. follow the instructions below to replace it.

How do I get my pokemon silver version for game boy color to save again?

there is a small battery inside the carriage, replacing this will give the game the ability to keep saved data once again. *Note* I do not suggest doing this unless your experienced doing such thing. you can damage the board of the game if on careful.

There is no easy fix. Well, there is, but you have to open the game cartridge
all gameboy game cartridges have a battery inside. this battery powers the save module. Pokemon gold is such an old game that the battery has likely died; open the game, replace the battery, and it should work. images?q=tbn:ln15bafqcr5fzm: Leave me good feedback please.

My pokemon red won't let me see it in color everything is red and people and pokeballs are green

You do not have a problem with your game or system. The original release of both Pokemon Red and Pokemon blue came with very limited color palettes. As such, your Game Boy Color can only render certain objects in a different color. For clarification purposes, both of these titles were released before the launch of the Game Boy Color so wouldn't have been given the color palette upgrade. Hope this helps.

Can your Pokemon game still hold a save?

If your Game Boy game is no longer able to hold a save, yet can still be played fine, that most likely means that the battery in the game cartridge has run out of energy.

You can easily replace this battery, restoring the cartridge's ability to store save data. This replacement can be performed for much less than the cost of buying a new game. You just need to purchase a new battery.

    **Basic soldering skills required**

    Materials:
    Soldering iron
    New 3 Volt Coin Cell Battery - CR2025 (165mAh) or CR2032 (220mAh)
    Adhesive tape
Fine tipped hemostat or needle-nosed pliers

    Flip over your cartridge.

    Locate Screw

    screw.jpgscrew.jpg

Using a hemostat, needle-nosed pliers, or anything else that you can grip it with, unscrew this little screw by turning counter-clockwise.

Once the screw has been removed, turn cartridge over, slide the front cover downwards, and pull it off.

Now you can see the circuit board, and the battery that allows one of the chips to retain the game save data.

    silverboard.jpgsilverboard.jpg
    redboard.jpgredboard.jpg

You can see that both Pokemon Red and Silver cartridges look very similar, except that the Silver circuit board has a crystal oscillator in the upper left-hand corner to control the passing of time in the game.
