Question about Rockford Fosgate (P210D4) Car Subwoofer

Speaker Failure I have just fitted two JBL GTO 627 6.5" speakers into my k reg Honda CRX. When you turn on the sterio (sony explod) the two speakers bleep and make a kind of shorting noise and turn themselves off and a message saying 'failure' on the sterio comes up. Could this be to do with the magnet of the speaker touching the metal of the car as they are deeper than the original speakers? The orginal speakers frames are metal so I have taped over the frames to ensure no speakers terminals or wires are touching the metal frame, but this makes no difference. If you take the speakers out of the mounting, they working perfectly. Any ideas? I'm stuck, speakers are usually simple fit, four screws and two wires, not usually a problem.

Re: Speaker Failure

I hook the speakers up to an amp and it does not work I need to know if I can sent it in to you to get fixed or send in for some refund on a new one. Or can I fix this problem myself, it is a 12 inch sub and it has no sound coming from it and I don't think it is blown. The sub (speaker) is an MX autotek and it is very heavy for a 12inch sub.

Re: Speaker Failure

Search for a short to chassis when you mount the speaker, there's no problem if the magnet touch the chassis. you can test the cables with a multimeter.check if the tiny flexible cables on the speaker touch metal when is in movement. (on sound).

How to fix a speaker

I assumes that the speaker of your car audio system has been burned out and posts this solution. Youcan buy the speaker cone paper along with it voice coil, ready to fit on, from any electonic spare part selling shops at your town. Never think that you can get the quality of sound as it was before. Because, there are so many calculations and fitting technique for making speakers. You can hear it. That is all. OK.

Amp is putting itself in protection mode.

I would check to see if you have a secure ground and check all of your connections for shorts.

My sony has a red for battery+(switched) so that it turns off when you turn your vehicle off >>>> black for -(ground) <<<<<<yellow for memory(constant+) i dont use any of the other wires but there should be a blue for to turn on the amps if you have any and a blue/white that should run your power antenna if you have that- some have an orange wire that is supposed to dim the display when you turn the lights on-mine does it automatically so mine doesnt have that wire>>>>>there should be 4 sets of matched wires like white /white black stripe thats the front left speakers black striped is always the speaker - negative ---------grey/grey black stripe is front right speakers and the green set and the purple set are the rear speakers------hope that helps i cant really help more without actually going out and pulling my sony out the dash -but good luck

Speaker Failure

If your receiver's ground wire isn't connected probably your going to cause a chain of small short circuits that will continue to arise. The head unit needs to be properly wired and installed. It is a possibility that you may have a problem with the speakers building a magnetic force onto the steel frame of your speaker mounts, causing it to give you the "faliure beep and message" and the cd player takes action in cutting off the source of problem. I would remove your head unit, if you are unable to do so bring your car to a a local service tec, and have it removed, but watch carefully so you know how to do it next time. And once out, trace all your wires to each other and assure a contact is made. The ground is easy, If its fair sizes wire in length and it isn't connected. Look for a mounting screw inside of your dash, preferably one running to your metal dash itself. If you cant find one, you can always mount the same screws your cd player mounts onto. BUT look for a stand alone spot for it to screw in for insurance that its not gong to come loose.
Good luck and ask more questions so i can further assist you.

You amp has a low pass filter turned on. There should be a switch to turn it off on the amp, otherwise you need a different amp. Be careful, 600 watts is WAY over the v1342a's rated power of 45 watts rms. If you turn it up too loud, that amp will easily blow your speakers.
