I have a 6 burner range top. When I turn on 5 of the six all 6 spark as they should and the correct one lights. When I turn on the left front knob none of them spark and it will not light, but gas does start to come out. Could this be the knob control?

Hi,

The problem is the burners switch the the single burners has failed, this will cause is not to fire the module and ignite the burner. I would replace just that burner switch to correct the problem. When you call for parts, make sure you have the complete model number and possible color of that burner switch needed. They make or have available switch that are sold by color, so color may be needed for this model.

I hope this helps.

SOURCE: Viking Gas Burner issue?

is this a sealed burner unit? if so the burner base (the heavy brass part under the burner cap) has to be sitting just right. you will notice that it has holes around the the sides make sure that where your ignitor sparks to it that it aligns with the lowest hole on the burner base. if you have a great flame all around the burner after checking what i mentioned i would replace the spark module. if it continues to drive you crazy with the noise - just unplug it. the burners will continue working fine without power.

SOURCE: Burners not lighting

I had the same issue and replaced the spark module myself, lots of wires and you have to make sure to label them before removal to be able to hook them back up correctly. To get to the module you need to unscrew all burners, no need to take the cover plate under the knobs. Burners remove by unscrewing center, brass nut. OEM spark module is VIKING RANGE #PA020021 U-67205-21. Go

SOURCE: viking gas cooktop vgsu161-6b sparks continuously.

The water that you spilled onto the cooktop has shorted out the ignition switch in the gas control knob. Don't worry though no permanent damage has been done. Leave it unplugged from the electrical outlet for a day or two until the liquid dries out. You can manually light the burners with matches or a BBQ lighter in the meantime. If you want to try and speed up the drying process you can use a hair dryer.

We have a thermador 5 burner gas range top and the pilot light seems to have gone out. The burners don't go on but we smell gas. How do we re-light it?

Most gas range tops no longer have pilot lights but use an electronic ignition (sparker) to light the burner. Normally when you turn the burner on you should here a snapping or sparking sound, at which point the burner should ignite. Here is a link to the user manual for 36" - 5 burner Thermador rangetop...maybe this will help: http://dl.owneriq.net/a/ac64ae7b-1ed3-44a3-9235-e4dbd8fe4628.pdf

By the way, in the short term you could always use a match to light the burner. JUST BE VERY CAREFUL THE YOU HAVE THE MATCH LIT AND OVER THE DESIRED BURNER BEFORE YOU TURN KNOB TO START THE BURNER!!!!

Gas is flowing to all, but the front left burner will not ignite.

hello, it sounds like your Spark switch went out its located just under you knob to check it you'll have to open the top of your range and look at the one for your bad burner and see if thairs any burn or black marks on it that'll be a dead give away to it being bad or going out, what probably happened is that the water caused a ground and burnt it out. if that's the case and you need to order a new one here's a web sight were you can order the part from all you have to do is put in your ranges part # and click on the things on the left side of the page to find the exact part for your appliance.

Some Burners Will Not Ignite

probably a worn wire to the electrode or a cracked ignitor. you are faced with taking off the hobtop and looking - no easy solution. you should not do this unless you are confident and don't interupt the gas path
