This kind of problem needs to consider some things. To isolate the problem, kindly follow the steps below:

* PHYSICAL CONNECTION *
1. Try to connect the USB cable into different USB port of the computer.
2. Try to connect the camera into different computer to see if there's a problem with the cable that you are using.
3. Try using different cable to connect your camera.

* SOFTWARE *
- If you are using a Canon camera, check if there's a utility or CD that came with it. Usually, it was called the EOS Utility. If there is, try to install in to the computer and see if the camera will be recognized.

I had the same problem. The problem was, I had been downloading the pictures from my Canon digital Camera onto a Dell desktop with windows XP through the front USB port for years, no problems. One day, it just stopped working, and I would get a "unknown device" message when I went into the device manager. If I tried to open up the software that came with the camera and clicked "start image transfer" , I would get "camera not found" Anyway, it could be a newly downloaded or upgraded version of realplayer. So I went into realplayer tools, preferences. I turned off the automatic updates and message center and re-booted as instructed. I plugged in the camera, and it worked.

How do I download fromk my camera to my computer pictures that I have already downloaded and deleted from computer? They are still in camera.

Attach the camera and make sure the computer recognizes the camera if ti does not open a program to download them see below if it prompts you to make a choice as to what to do click open folder and copy and paste them into the computer.
If it does not but does recognize the camera go to My computer or just computer where you can see the drives like C: and DVD drives look for the camera drive if you don't see it just click other drives until it opens the camera if it does not then its not recognizing it. If it opens click through each folder in it until you find the pictures copy them and paste them to your pictures folder on your computer.

Your computer must recognize your camera automatically,.
Go to control panel -- device manager and look if they are a device iht a yellow mark .
If have a yellow mark, select and rigt clik "uninstall"
Restart your PC
If don``t work

Try connect in another USB Port
Try connect in another computer
If don`t work, maybe the USB cable is failure

My computer stop recognizing my Olympus Stylus 5010, have downloaded pics from it before, now it sends it to print. Help please. Didn't recieve a disk or manual, just a paper with how to get started,...

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

You can download a PDF manual and/or order a printed manual from the manufacturer at

Fuji svp t718 camera will not download pictures to my computer. hooked up usb cable and it just says on camera screen usb connecting. nothing else happens. what can I do?

In order to down load pictures from a digital camera to the computer, you must first load software that allows the computer to recognize your camera. There should be software that came with the camera, and how to load it is in your manual. If you choose not to do this, then you can take the memory card out of the camera and insert it into a card reader attached to your computer and see the pictures on the card.

A lot of people assume that they must use the cable and sofware that came with the camera in order to download their photos. The problem is that the cable/camera way is very problematic. This link provides a solution to that lost cable, lost software disc, or computer that just fails to recognize the camera.

My digital camera is the Kodak Easy Share C913, and when i insert the cord in the computer for photo downloads the computer does not detect it

Solution: Windows should automatically recognize your digital camera and prompt you with a list of possible actions, such as viewing the pictures stored on your memory card. Sometimes, this recognition takes several minutes, especially if you're plugging in the device for the first time. If, after waiting a reasonable amount of time, you are not prompted with actions for your digital camera, ensure that your camera's batteries are charged and that your camera is turned on, as many models require the camera to be powered in order for the computer to access its contents. If these things check out, try plugging your camera into a different USB port. Next, go to the Start menu and click My Computer (in Windows XP) or Computer (in Windows Vista and Windows 7) and then see if your device is listed under the Devices With Removable Storage section. If it is, double-click your camera's icon to interact with it. If not, try the following suggestions.

It could be that in order to use your digital camera with your computer, you must first install the software that came with your camera. If you can’t locate the software disc that came with your digital camera, you may be able to download the software from the manufacturer’s Web site.

If none of the above solutions solves the problem, you may need to enable your camera in the Device Manager. In Windows XP, click the Start menu and choose Control Panel. Click Performance And Maintenance, click System, and choose Device Manager under the Hardware tab. In Vista and Win7, click Start and choose Computer. Click System Properties at the top and then choose Device Manager from the left menu. Locate and expand the Disk Drives entry, right-click your camera’s name, and choose Enable. Once enabled, your camera should be recognized and listed in My Computer. If your camera is still not recognized, we suggest you contact your camera’s manufacturer for additional suggestions.
