Question about Microsoft Internet Explorer 8
You should simply install the latest version of Firefox. It's a faster, stabler, easier to use browser and it uses far less system resources than IE8.
IE8 is designed primarily with Vista in mind and compatibility with XP is questionable at best.
To roll back to IE6 or IE7 (your previous version) just do a system restore from control panel.
