Epson Stylus Photo R300 CD/DVD Tray

I can print photos no problem, but when I try to print a CD/DVD it won't do it. The tray feeds in and then feeds straight out. The printer asks me to reload the tray and press the maintenance button, which I do, and it does the same again. There is nothing in the troubleshooting guide to cover this so any help would be appreciated.

when trying to print a cd cover. it won't do it. disc do's not go in.

printer tell's me to shut cd/dvd door

When I align the arrows, per the manual's instructions, the printer ALWAYS pulls the tray in slightly and then immediately pushes it out and the red error light comes on. As instructed, I close the tray and click the Eject button that the programs presents me in my Windows XP Pro screen.

The only times--and this has been a very precious few--I am successful in printing onto a CD occurs when I push the tray in more than I am supposed to do--as a result the arrows are not now aligned; and then I have to exert a little, but steady pressure on the tray as the printer starts to pull it in. Sometimes it will then go ahead and complete the printing process.

But even then it does not properly align the image printed onto the CD. I have gone through the process in the printer's menu window to move the image, e.g., 4mm left. Whenever I succeed in getting it print again, I see no realignment of the printed image.

I am extremely frustrated and I really want this printer to faithfully print properly aligned images onto my CDs without me having to hope and pray (and play with it) every time. I will be supremely grateful if you can help me make this thing work as it is supposed to do.

I have owned the printer a few years but this is my first time trying to print onto CDs. I have wasted tons of hours within the past week or so trying to achieve this. Please help!

I have the same printers. On the cd tray there is some small thin protrusions that are supposed to be thin enough to be easily caught by the rollers. Sometimes these do not go in between the rollers for the tray to continue in. Check and see if they are dammaged. A possible solution (but not recommended if you are not familiar with working plastic), is to try to make the tips a bit thinner so they will be caught by the rollers. The rollers are spring loaded so they will grip the material. This may or may not be your problem. It is what I have found quite frequently.

mine loads ok carries out the print but nothing on it any help would be great.

Solution: Bought a new feeder tray. Works a treat.

You need to push the tray in until it is held between the rollers.

Mine did the same, whilst they are very, very fussy the main problem is that you need a few inches of clear space at the rear of the printer when you print CD/DVD because the tray has to be able to pass out the back of the printer before being drawn back in.

Epson Stylus Photo R300 Inkjet Printer When I try to print on a cd/dvd I line up the arrows hit print but it keeps telling me to close the cd/dvd tray, there is no way it will print with this tray.

The cd/dvd tray door has a small opening on right edge. Inside there is a slide switch. Use a toothpick to see if it is stuck. Check where it closes to the main body. A thin strip protrudes out to mate and close the plastic actuator of the switch. The door may not be closing well enough the actuate the switch. Make sure it is fully closed and retry to print. Also, there will be a small click as you raist the door before it snaps into place. If not, check to see if there may be some debris causing it to not actuate properly.
Good luck,

Epson stylus photo R300 cd/dvd tray not set correctly

I had the same problem. Restarted the printer. Reinstalled the drivers. Scratched my head ... nothing! then I moved the printer away from the wall - problem solved! I can't say that this will work for you but if everything else is working, as it was and still is on mine then it's worth a try.
What I didn't realsie was that the cd tray comes out of the back of the printer when it's checking the alignment. I had inadvertantly pushed the printer back, too close to the wall. Moved it forward slightly and it's fixed.
Hope that solves it for everyone.

Hi Chillyslade,

Try this..

Close the CD/DVD guide, then press the font28.gif maintenance button.
If the CD/DVD tray is inserted, remove the CD/DVD tray, then close the CD/DVD guide

Hope this works, kindly let me know by providing your valuable rating.

Epson R300 CD/DVD Tray ERROR message with Leopard any Solutions?

One of the guys on this site said read the manual over and over again, and he was right.
You must go to system preferences and choose print and fax. Set the default media to A4. Then in the Print CD program when you hit print your will see fifth line down Epson Print CD on offer. Hit the arrows on the right and choose print settings from the drop down menu and then media type and choose CD / DVD. All should then work. It does on mine.
Regards and best wishes. David

Yes I had a similar problem and in fact returned my printer for a replacement. You need clearance as the CD tray emerges some 2.5 to 3 inches behind the printer. If the tray hits an obstacle it is unable to correctly line up for printing and the trat is rejected
