Symptoms: strange yellowish circle appearing on selected white items after being dried. this has to be coming from our dryer. Great to hear that it cleaned out your machine. Save yourself some money and wear and tear on your machine. Cut way down on the amount of Fabric softener and Detergents you use ( We here in the NW only use about a tablespoon )or don't use any Fabric softener. it is hard on your machine and your cloths too. you should run a vingar flush once every 3 to 6 months
We here in the Northwest we have soft water. So I don't know where you live but a easy way to test it in a top load washer or a front load washer with a window is to run a your washer without any cloths or soap added if you have suds you have too much soap in your washer . and should flush it and cut back on the amount you are using... are you still getting yellow spots? let me know...Krazytech

Hi, I believe its the washer causing the problem. Probably leaking oil into the wash from a broken seal in the transmission. I would suspect that before I would the dryer. Hope this helps. kstfas
P.S.Fill your washer with HOT water and run it through most of the wash cycle with no soap. Shut it off and let it set for a while. Look at the top of the water with a flash light and see if there is an oily film on it. put your hand in it and see if oil sticks to your hand. Get a clear glass full of the water and look at the water through the glass. You may find your problem there. Oil is lighter than water so it will be on top if the transmission has any oil left and is leaking. Let me know.
Thanks,
kstfas

I believe the stains are actually semi burn marks. If you are drying your whites try a lower heat setting. i had this problem with my kenmore dryer before too. Got bad especially with towels. Make sure your vent is not clogged and your filter is cleaned regularly to let the heat flow better. should help.

sounds like good advice, except that i already dry on the lowest setting of delicate. i'll see if my husband can check the vent in the back. but i wanted to see if anyone else had any info for me.
thanks,
dee
thanks. i will try that.
i tried the white vinegar and although time will tell, right now the washer looks brand new inside. i put the vinegar in the water as well as in the fabric softener cup. my husband works in the mill and his clothes come home with a lot of grease - so the vinegar seemed to clean the little holes in the side of the basin. thanks for the advice. i'll see if i have any more yellow spots during the next two weeks.
wow! a tablespoon? i'm using close to a 1/2 cup plus water!
