Question about Computers & Internet
Cannot download fron usenext site, message reads....A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond? despite having deactivated your firewall and antivirus programs. Another cause for the deficient connectivity is the requirement to open the ports in your modem/router
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

SOURCE: D-Link Router & Actiontec Modem
connect the Dlink router to the modem ActionTech->( wan port )Dlink. Login to the Router web-interface and go to STATUS & check the WAN IP address which would be modem ip address. if there is an ip address, do ping test on your computer to that ip address and see you are getting successful ping results. If so, the ping yahoo.com and see there is an successful ping for yahoo.
- If there is No WAN IP in STATUS Page, Connect the computer directly to the modem and let me know the ip address you are getting. Can I know your ISP name please?

To setup your router
Connect the Broadband modem to the computer using an Ethernet cable without the router installed and make sure that the Internet connection is active. If it is not, contact your Internet Service Provider. If it can go online,
to setup connection..
Connect the Broadband modem to the router’s WAN or Internet port.
Connect the computer to any available numbered port (1, 2, 3 or 4).
NOTE: In this example, we’ll connect the computer to port number 3.
Make sure the power adapter is plugged to an available power outlet.
check if you are able to go online wired..
if not your router has to be configured first,
to config your router i need some more information
your internet service providers (isp)name , and how many computers do u have totally..

The best page for portforwarding can be found here.
It mainly depends on the software and the ports used, so it might differ from application to application.
Portforwarding.com has excellent user guides.

SOURCE: Can't connect to AT&T VPN
as you told me that all the ports are open so in that case you can get in touch with your ISP and ask them to enable IPPASSTHROUGH on your office laptop.

SOURCE: Unable to set up wireless router
Shut down your computer, unplug the cable modem and the switch. Connect all three - computer to switch, switch to modem. Make sure that the ethernet cable between the router and the modem is in the router uplink port and that the computer is plugged into one of the four ports that look alike. Wait 30 seconds - plug in the modem. Wait another 30 seconds, plug in the router, wait another 30 seconds and boot the computer. Open a browser and see if you have internet access. If you still don't, then try to check the browser by typing 192.168.1.1 into the address bar of the browser. That should give you the browser sign in screen. The Linksys default is to leave the user name blank and type admin for the password. That should give you access to the router so you can check the settings. If this doesn't work, document carefully what happens and post again with your results and we'll try to go from there.
