My Squelch on my Cobra C.B isnt working anymore, Does that mean anything or do i need a new C.B?

It means either the knob or something in the squelch circuit has gone bad. Doesn't mean that you cannot use the radio, you will just hear static all the time when no one is talking. If the static bothers you, you can always back the RF gain down a bit. That will quiet the noise, but lower you receive range. meaning you won't hear as far away.

Try a new Mic. Make sure its a working mic. If you have a bad mic, the receive will not work.

Excessive static equally on all chanels on cb

You should always connect the CB directly to the battery as the accessory socket is full of noise. You also should choose a better antenna as these small glass mounts cannot hear signals well and magnify local noise. AM (CBs) radios naturally pick up noise as it is the nature of AM signals. Use your squelch to lesson this but too much can knock out you reception.

Reception is very poor. Grounding issues? Please

Reception has little to do with grounding. The ground plan is for transmitting. As long as the coax is connected and is in good standing, it should receive fine regardless of grounding.

There are a few reasons you may have bad reception.
  1. Turn the RF GAIN all the way up. This is your receive sensitivity.
  2. Squelch is too high. It should only be turned up enough to cut out the background noise.
  3. Poor antenna. If the antenna is cheap, and not made well, this could be the problem.
  4. Not enough of the antenna above the vehicle. It needs to be at least 60% of the antenna above the vehicle.
Hope this helps!

Cb radio

Go onto google and search Cobra 29ltd schematics and find where the squelch level and your AMC control is at Automatic Modulation Control. It should be Vr4 for the amc turn it up all the way clock wise with the radio facing toward you then back it down so your not over modulating. Then when you find the squelch level you can turn it down to qiuet it down.

Low sound on incoming

Have you checked your squelch control? try turning it completly counter clockwise this should un-squelch your receiver and increase the sound, however this might also be a sign of poor reception which would indicate a bad anntena, poor grounding or coaxial cable. Check and or replace these items before continuing. If replacing these do not help your situation then the unit itself has a problem. I would suggest that you take it to a radio repair shop and get the work done by a professional, since there are not user serviceable parts in the device.
