Re: Prolem with acer 3620
Try a new memory stick initially, Only 1 if the cost is high and see if it does boot up correctly. If not then you probably have had a surge or lightning damage and may need a new power supply. Just try the memory stick fist then go from there.

sounds like a hardware problem....if u know how to assemble the laptop.it will be easy for u to fix that problem....all that things are connected to the mainboard..re insert all the cables what is loosen...regarding the headphone jack,if you have an extra jack you can replace that by resolder.
I believe that the 4020 and 3620 have the same chassis. See if this helps
To the left of the battery there is an I/O cover with 2 screws, then the heat sink cover has 2 screws. There you should see the Thermal Unit (fan). It has 4 screws. Take those out and lift the unit out.
Let me know , curious to see if they are indeed the same chassis. If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it. Thanks, Joe
The vga board on this laptop heats up very easyly and the heatsink is uselessly small. Video may fail withing 12 months. I would recommend another laptop model, this series 3xxx and 15xx have cooling issues and parts fail often. Not much you can do about the problem.
Check Acer's website for a BIOS update. I've seen a LOT of laptop's screen issues been related to the power saving settings in the BIOS. Sometimes screens going black very fast and not working properly can be caused by that.
The Power Inverter could also be the problem which you wouldn't be able to repair yourself. If you purchased it at Best Buy you can take it to them and they could get that fixed for you (at a charge if there is no warranty with that).
