Question about Kitchen Ranges

2 Answers

Jenn-Air "drop in" 4 burner range and oven (Model #88370)about 28 years old. Righthand front burner goes immediately to super-high when turned on "Low". Have tried replacing the 2-unit burner with a brand new one, but problem persists. Trouble must be in the dial switch for burner on the control panel. Waht can be done about this? F. Dear Kevin -

Thanks for your response. I figured the problem was probably

in the burner switch and am glad to learn the replacement part

can still be purchased from Jenn-Air despite the age (29 years)

of the range. Now, the all-important question. I am fairly handy.

Is this something I can do myself? How do you access the

underside of the switch control panel? (I recently replaced the

main bottom heating coil in the oven and it is working fine.)

Wow this has lasted for a long while. And it still has a long life. now that you have replaced the burners. You need to replace the control switch. that is where the thermostatic is once you have done this you should be cooking under control for a long time to come. good luck DFD

My 10 year old whirlpool super capacity 456's right front control knob started to burn with flames shooting out. Disconnected plug from wall and have been using lighter to start burners. Any idea as

there's a wiring harness with 4 or sometimes 5 switches depending on the model you have that slides onto the valve so when you turn the knob that burner will light, the switch most likely shorted out.if this is a regular stove with an oven and burners on top look down at the bottom, under the oven door you'll see a draw, open the draw and look on the frame not on the draw on the frame and you'll find a tag with the model and serial number on it,send the model number and i can look up your model.

Stove top burners

It is not the cartridge. It is the ignition switch (sometimes called a cooktop switch) I found mine on ebay. In particular it is a faulty rear switch. Save your money on the cartridge.
