Question about Canon PowerShot A630 Digital Camera

1 Answer

"Lens Error, Restart Camera" Lens stuck open, completely disfunctional! /sadface :(

Okay so my Canon PowerShot A630 was working fine one minute, and then next it turned off randomly, and the lens locked in a half open position. Every time I try to turn it back on it squeaks, beeps 6 times, and says "lens error, restart camera," then turns off again, what do I do? Thanks...Brendan Carnevale.

Lens errors are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ...

Here's some things that you can do to try to correct it. They only seem to work for less than 50% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty, they're worth a try:

Canon SD1000 lens error

Turn off the Camera, remove the Battery pack, then press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.

Reinsert the Battery, then buzz around the lens for a few times then check if it works. Make sure that the Battery is fully charged.

The error message indicates that the lens is not able to adjust itself.

My PowerShot A650 IS...the lens opens and closes

try charging the batteries to full when using the camera, if that did not work, update the firmware from CANON.COM.

if that also did not work, you need to visit the service centre as it could be a CCD problem or a shifted lens.

Canon powershot a630 lens is stuck

My lens was stuck inside the camera and would not come out when I turned the camera on. I could hear a sound but nothing was happening with the lens. I used a dental pick (small sharp pointed object) to pull at the lens and it came out and seems to be working fine. Just tried it a couple of hours ago and It seems to be OK.
