The usual recommendation from Microsoft is Pagefile = RAM x 1.5.
That would mean a 6GB pagefile in your case, but this rule comes from a time when people had 256 or 512 MB of RAM.
The safest way to set it up is to let Windows handle the size of the page file.
If yo want to set it manually, the make the initial size the same amount as the maximum size. This results in one large file which is not affected by disk fragmentation.
If you want to read a little bit more, look at this article from Petri.

Hi

Well about guaranteed your 2 gigs ram is probably DDR II ram which has maximum of four gigs with 64 bit processing and 2 with 32 bit is. So motherboard needs upgrade. 35.00 for good giabit or board with 1000 megs a sec ethernet lan. With ddrIII ram. And upgrade operating system I believe win 8 has max 16 gig ram win 7 uses 8 gis vista and longhorn 64 use 4 and xp normal edition 32 bit uses 2 max. So you about have to run win 7 or 8. Win 7 will become direct x incomparable at some point making us change to win 8. Win8 cost like 300 to 350 and tiger direct.com has good deal of the win 7 pro media center for 75 bucks. So spend 150 on good speed 8 gig ram, 125 bucks for 12 core and at 4 GHz I think. And a board for 35. Reuse all other componets. And you\'ll have a 2500 dollar computer and best on the block. XPS-410 needs to have MCE 2005 Rollup two SP3 replaced by Windows 7 64 bit. Too many problems to list currently but will work limited programs

Not sure what you are trying to do. If you are trying to convert 32 bit to 64 bit Apps, try going to manufacturers website to look for drivers.
Win 7 will actually find the best drivers for your devices.

Dell XPS 400 PC Desktop
Installing RAM on a desktop computer is of moderate difficulty for most non-technical people. Before beginning any memory upgrade, make sure the proper RAM has been purchased. The Dell XPS 400 requires DDR2 RAM (240-pin DIMM).

Preparing the Computer b> The computer must be unplugged before any work can be completed and the proper precautions must be taken, such as wearing an anti-static wristband. Also, replacing the RAM on a Dell machine could void its warranty. To install the new RAM, the case of the computer needs to be opened. Replacing the RAM b> The motherboard has four RAM slots. Each slot takes one stick of RAM (up to 1 GB per stick). The XPS 400 can utilize up to 4 GB of RAM. If adding RAM, put the new RAM in an empty slot. If replacing the RAM, take out the existing one and then put the new RAM into the machine. Important Notes b> While the Dell XPS 400 has four RAM slots, if only two sticks of RAM are to be used, they must be inserted into slots 1 and 3 or slots 2 and 4 for optimal performance. A single stick of RAM should be inserted into slot 1. Always put the largest ram module closest the CPU central processing unit.
Start your computer Wait for Windows to load. Click on "My Computer" and select "Properties" using right-click in the Explorer window. This will open "Systems Properties." Click on the "General" tab. Here you can view the physical memory installed on your computer. The amount indicated is the total RAM installed on your computer. RAM is usually 32 MB, 64 MB or 128 MB in older PC versions. Newer PCs are usually equipped with 256 MB, 512 MB or even higher RAM.
b>If you're not sure if a module is right for your system, use the Crucial Memory Advisor tool for a list of guaranteed compatible modules. First you will need to select the manufacturer from a drop down list then select your product line from a drop down list then select the model then click find it will take you directly to compatible ram also you will have an option to scan your system. You should always ask for a guarantee on the compatibility before making any purchase and try to buy for working pairs if possible.

What year was dell latitude d510 introduced and does it support windows 7

  • It was introduced around 2005. It lacks the RAM necessary to run windows 7 (It has 512 MB, when you need 1 GB). So, I'm afraid this computer is not compatible with windows 7 unless you upgrade the RAM
  • Please reply if you have any more questions. Good Luck! Please give 4 thumbs up if I helped!

Laptop shows only 4gb ram & 300 gb hdd

This is the limitation of a 32 bit (x86) Operating System. A 32 bit OS can detect upto 3GB RAM only.

You may either try installing the x64 Bit of XP Operating System or Vista Service Pack 1 or 2 for 32 bit Vista Operation System to resolve the issue.

After installing the SP 1 or 2 of the Vista OS in the Computer, the OS will detect 4GB RAM.

Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have installed 4 GB of RAM but it only shows 3 GB RAM

Any 32bit OS can only read up to 3.5GB of RAM. In order to read additional ram you must have a 64BIT OS.

Vista RAM usage ?

The minimum recommended ram for Vista is 1 GB, generally accepted practical minimum is 2 GB. A 1 GB system will be kinda laggy. Maximum RAM for 32 bit Vista is 4 GB.

Vista Home Premium is roughly equivalent to Windows XP Media Center Edition (Has Media Center, cann't be put on a DOMAIN type network)

Vista Business is roughly equivalent to Windows XP Professional (Can Join a Domain, Doesn't have Media Center)

Vista Ultimate has all available freatures of Vista, you can do any windows function with Ultimate
