Question about Refrigerators
Not sure of the fridge model number but I need to change the light bulb it it and cant seem to remover the cover which is in the center of the roof of the fridge. its a clear cover....I dont want to force it out in case it breaks . The fridge freezer is small, white and only one year old and has just a small freezer (2 draws at the bottom) I hope you can tell me how to remove and replace the bulb cover. thank you
It would have been really helpful if you could have provided the model number. You can always find it at the back of your freezer. Here are some links to videos which should be useful for you.

It can be confusing to find the manual but follow these steps
1. go to www.maytag.com
2. click support
3. click manuals
4. Enter model
5. click the use and care guide
6. On page 11 bottom left corner ( my acrobat reader says section 12)

could be an air leak around the door seals. put a piece of paper between the door and the freezer if it slides around easly then the seal is leaking air and moisture into the freezer. Also -20 is extream. you could turn the temp up by 10 or 15 degrees and it may solve the problem and so money!

I ended up having to remove things in this order: all shelves, ice maker insert, ice maker top ice tray, ice maker lower motor housing, shelving support rails (2), rear evaporator coil cover. This exposed the evaporator coils (which were already dry since the fridge had been off for two days) and most importantly, the defrost heater element below the coils. The heater element was easily unplugged from it's two connectors. I tested the unit with an ohm meter and it indicated it was open (infinity resistance). I then knew it was bad. I replaced it with a new unit and put everything back together in reverse order taking care to use the same screws. The fridge appears to be back in working order.

There are usually 3 or 4 locking tabs on the cover that just need to be pressed INDIVIDUALLY toward the bulb to release them and then carefully remove the cover. The ones with 3 tabs usually have and upper and lower tab then the thrid tab is on the side. Removed the upper and lower tabs by pressing inward to the bulb and then the cover will pivot out on the 3rd SIDE tab.
Thanks for using FixYa.
