Blackscreen in scrapland

In scrapland, after it begins running, it just shows a blackscreen, and what I assume to be the logo playing in the background (audio). Then the game just stops responding and I have to end the process.

Tried to run under Vista Ultimate 32-bit, got the same black screen. Sound from logo movie plays but nothing else. After that, silence, and still black screen.

I got it to work by disabling ffdshow.
In Vista go to start.
In the search box type in ffdshow.
Click ffdshow video decoder.
ffdshow video decoder config will open.
In the left pane click direct show control.
On the right make sure the box next to "dont use ffdshow in:" is checked.
add Scrap.exe;Scrapland.exe; to the text field
click ok

game should work after that

I know, I had this problem some time ago. There are 3 possible issues :

1.) Your graphics card may not be good enough for the game. Buy a better one if you can.

2.) Your computer may not be compatible with the game. You can't fix this. If this is the problem... sorry! This is the life.

3.) It may be nothing. Try to reinstall the game 3-4 times. It may work. I tried this, and it worked perfectly after i reinstalled it a few times.

This is all that I can do. Hope it helpes you!

4)connect the pwr cord and restart the computer and see if it boots or not.
5)if not then disconnect the pwr cord again and open the side pannel of the computer//
6)on the mother board you will find the RAM (MEMORY CARD) which will be approx 6 inch long", take out the card/s and plug the pwr cord and restart the computer//
7) if you get the beep sound then the mother board is ok and if you do not get the beep sound then the problem could be mother board//
8)if getting the beep sound then fix the RAM CARD properly and restsrt the computer// it shoul boot//

Blackscreen on display

Try the extension RGB monitor socket on a monitor to see if that works. If it does you might have hit the function key to switch the display to externel. Look in your manual about switching displays this will help you.
It will be something like <function F4 or something similar.

Rca L42phd37yx8 42' led tv blackscreen with sound wont show anything

Show a torch light on the screen (not too close) when the TV and program is running. If you can see the picture, the backlights have gone off. Anyhow, the TV needs attention by a qualified service technician.

the inverter has prolly gone out. it will prolly be around $25 on ebay; however, it may be difficult to install. if that is not the problem, then the bulb is dead.

Blackscreen problem when viewing pictures it will show 5 to 10 pictures and then a blackscreen will appear. however, the computer will still be working.

If you move backwards in your picture viewing program of choice, (eg Irfanview, ACDSee or the inbuilt windows picture viewing program) does the previous picture work Ok?
If so, it maybe that the picture that is next in order is corrupted. ie it will make the screen go 'black'. if the picture works one time but not another time, its not the picture file at fault.
If you look at the folder with the View options set to Thumbnail, do all the pictures appear OK? ie in miniature?
Does the screen play up when playing a game or doing something else? If so, then the graphics chip on your laptop motherboard maybe on its way out. if you are lucky, that model laptop may have a replaceable graphics card. See the Dell forums for help, or give Dell a ring.
