Poulan wild thing recoil froze up

I was using the chain saw last fall and then shut it off for lunch. I tried to restart it and pulled the cord 4-5 times and it siezed up. I disassembled the recoil cover assem and freed up the cord and rewound it. I got it to start on the third pull. I was using it and it stalled out. Tried pulling the cord once and it was siezed up again. Now that I'd like to clear some atv trails, I need a saw to count on. Is there a replacement {better} recoil assembly that I can purchase that I'll be able to count on?? Thanks.

Its just the recoil. I can't pull the cord at all. If I was to take it all apart again and respool the cord, I'm sure it'll fire up. But I don't want to have to keep doing this every time I want to use it.

Did the saw motor itself seize or just the recoil cord?

You may need to replace the recoil assembly, check with poulan for availability.

Sorry I couldn't be of greater assistance.

one piston ring has expanded now having no or a very fine gap increasing the compression ratio causing this to happen. When the spark plug is removed it is very easy to pull on the cord in any means. A inspection is due of this engine or a new chain saw is needed

I'm afraid you put yourself in a corner. You need to take your chain saw to a repair facility. Make sure to gather all the parts to go with. I know how to install a coil spring, but it's something you have to be shown in person how to do it. It can be pretty tricky.
You could be hurt by the spring uncoiling by accident.

Incidentally, I doubt if the coil was the original problem.
Why do you think that is the problem?

Recoil has hung up twice on new saw never got to use it

Return it to the bix box store where you purchased it; get a refund. Find a chainsaw shop that sells and services their product.

Poulan model p3314 recoil spring won't go in correctly

You need to pretension it. Remove the pull handle, rotate the spool about 2 revolutions against the spring, rethread the cord and reinstall the handle.

Recoil spring on homelite chain saw doesn't retract pull rope

Easy suggestion would be to get new spring coil. Is it older saw? Have had to change mine on poulan saws before.

Wild Thing-(18")hard starting

I own the Poulan Chain Saw the Wild Thing. Replaced the spark plug and fuel filter and made a fresh batch of gasoline mix and I am still having a hard time getting it started. I had the exact same problem last fall. Repair shop told me it was flooded. If this is the case how do I resolve the problem. I took the plug out and it was dry.

Thanks,

WILD THING PULL STRING ASSEMBLY

It looks like a design flaw because I figured out how to get the recoil assembly back together but
it failed again, twice. I can't remember what the warranty term was.
