Question about HP MINI 2133 NOTEBOOK PC - 1.6GHZ PC Desktop

1 Answer

My HP mini laptop will not connect to my wireless network.

All of my other laptops connect just fine.

However I keep getting a message from the HP that the network may be out of range even though I see 5 bars of signal strength.

Also the HP does connect to other networks such as the one at PANERA bread stores.

Is something set up wrong that is precluding me from connecting to my home network??

No solution for this - HP doesn't know how to fix - their tech people tried for almost 4 hours with mine - send it back. The mini will NOT work with a secured/encrypted wireless router. Think to yourself: your other computers WORK!

Check you wireless router settings if the wireless is enable on the router then , if this is done disable the firewall on your wireless laptop and if you cannot still connect to the wireless uninstalled and reinstalled your wireless driver software.

Windows could no connect to any of your preferred wireless networks. Windows will keep trying to connect. To see a list of all networks, including others you can connect to, click this message.

You will need to enter a password key to access the network if it is secured. If it is your network and you have the key entered you might try rebooting the router. If those don't work, you will need to supply more information here.

I keep getting an error message indicating that my wireless device is disabled. It's a HP mini. for work serial CNF0260923. HP MIni 210 - 1076NR

If you get that message, believe it.
You will have to enable it either through the software switch or a little switch that some computer manufacturers place on the computer case.
The first thing you can do is open your network connections and see if you can see the wireless connections. If it says disabled, you might be able to right-click on it and enable it.
You can also look in the control panel to see if the HP wireless assistant can be accessed through there (or possibly through the programs list).

Please refer to the User Manual for the HP Mini Netbook, located here:

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01657997.pdf

Specifically, take a look at page 25, "Connecting to a wireless network". At the bottom of this page, if you are seeing the icon listed as Wireless (disconnected), this means the wireless switch on your Mini is turned off. To turn it back on, find the small slider button on the front of your Mini with the wireless antenna icon next to it, and slide it. This should activate your wireless card, and if you have a wireless network in range it should identify it shortly after.

If your wireless card is already on, and it cannot find your wireless network signal, you can try either (1) restarting your router, or (2) visit the HP Support page for the Mini 1115NR, select your version of Windows installed on the Mini, then download and install the latest wireless networking drivers.

Did you see a switch on the side of the HP machine or a key on the keyboard with a wireless symbol? Turn on that switch or press the key to get wireless adapter started. Then try again to search for wireless networks. Please post if the issue persists and I will help on that.

Laptop wont connect to wireless network but desktop is fine.

Perhaps, it just needed a new IP address. Simply rebooting the computer and resetting the IP Address of the computer took care of the issue.

That sounds like symptoms of Manufacturer & Windows drivers conflicting. Try uninstall the Manufacturer Drivers and let the windows ones do the work, and see how that goes down.
